I saved this article (from September!) because it really rang bells for me. My daughter (adopted from China) went to four different daycare/preschool/schools in Chinatown, each with a different subset of the population, and I learned so much from the kids and the parents! I am still there frequently and enjoy the amazing food; very cheap, very fresh fruits and veggies; and discoveries all the time! My latest rediscovery is a little store that specializes in stuff from Tibet.
If any of you would like to meet in Manhattan Chinatown, PM me! I live much closer to one of the Brooklyn Chinatowns in Sunset Park and I am just figuring it out!
