I was admitted to New York Institute of Technology and Northeastern University, in NYIT I was admitted for architecture, and in NU I was admitted for engineering, NYIT gave me a 14,000 scholarship and Northeastern gave me nothing (also it's a lot more expensive...)

I don't know much about NYIT, the internet, for once, seems to be a bit limitless. I wanted to know if you could share something about it's reputation and the goods and bads about the architecture program as well as the engineering program, because I am a bit indecisive and I might change my major if I decide going there.

I'm pretty sold for NU however after seeing how much I will have to pay for an education there I started to ponder as to whether I should be considering NYIT's offer.

Thanks :)

Northeastern’s net cost would be reduced by co-op earnings. It’s also a much better school than NYIT (which I live near). NYIT is a suburban school with a lot of commuters (little campus life). Northeastern is a nationally known and respected school in downtown Boston. If you can handle the cost, it’s much better.

It really depends on if you want to be an Architecture or an Engineer.

If you want to be an Architect, NYIT is the right chose. And tuition fees should be well considered. But if you want to be an Engineer, NU is the right chose. Like the above said, it has a great co-op program and is a nationally ranked college. You should also do more research before deciding on Architecture vs Engineering. There is also a field called Architectural Engineering. I don’t know if NU provides this major or not however.

Thanks Chardo and CalvinTBOD, I wasn’t really considering NYIT after I got the acceptance from NU, however now that NYIT gave me a scholarship that would make my tuition significantly smaller I started to do a little more research.
I wanted to do architecture at the time that I applied, however I started realizing that although I would love to follow that career I had more of an engineer profile.
If I intended to go to NYIT I would have changed my major to engineering.
I decided to pick NU after all, and I am hoping that this ‘investment’ will be worth it for the future.
I’m an international student, and although academics are what really weigh more in my decision, having a traditional college life is also something that I don’t want to miss out on. NYIT doesn’t offer as much resources to the students as NU.
Thanks both of you, this really helped me into making a decision… (I decided to state why I chose NU in case someone is in the same situation.)
