This isn't really about college admissions, but oh well...
I have been nominated for the National Young Leader Conference in DC next fall. I know it isn't extremely prestigious, or is it? Has anyone done this who would recommend it? It costs like $1300, is it worth it? Will colleges like it on an application? I am interested in doing just for the experience, it sounds pretty cool.

i got into that two yrs in a row. i dnt know y but i did. I didnt attend because it would be almost completely useless, providing the fact that the major has nothing to do with that stuff. go if u want, but if it has no relation ot your major, try to find another opportunity that does.

i think it actually will... but i'm also fairly certain i will go to an LAC, so it doesn't matter so much anyway

Yea, I personally loved the experience, I mean I still talk to people from it and for me it was almost two years ago, so yeah the experience is incredible (though don't go if you're really keen on learning, b/c more than anything it's just an awesome opportunity to meet people). Yeah, and when I applied to college I referred to it on only one of my twelve apps. and that didn't stop me from getting accepted. So yeah, just to repreat myself it's just one of those awesome experiences I had, though if you want to know, many of my friends from NYLC went on to get into awesome colleges including UPenn [1], Duke [2], U Mich-Ann Arbor [1], Harvard [1], Rutgers [4], Princeton [1], Cornell [3].
