**NYS June 2014 English Regents Thread**

@jamesjunkers @justthatkid‌ okay good thank god. I mean I put an extra s in a authors names and instead of spelling a name Rasheed I put rashid. Okay right?

What did the dash signify? (Either to clarify statement or define a term) I put the one with clarify.
Also, what was the one about the whale turning back? I put something about a distraction.
Lastly, does anyone remember what they got for number 7 and 8? I believe my answers were about using research and logical evidence and theories

Clarify a statement @Jacob1227‌
@Indiangurl, yes that’s fine!

How did the author present the article?
Was it using logical evidence?

@jamesjunkers‌ yeah thats what i put

This regents is inane. I chose parental beliefs (paraphrasing) as the basis of the child fantasy section. Theories and evidence (paraphrasing) was another choice. The narrator references theories, evidence, and parental beliefs…

Guys I know I’m being really crazy but sorry I’m jut freaking out!!! For the critical lens, I discussed the scarlet letter since that one definitely fit. Then for the second book I stretched the quote a bit, talking about not only evil but about being mean or rude. For that one I used a thousand splendid suns. Should I be okay? Oh and I spelled definitely wrong in my essay:( will it be a problem?

@Indiangurl‌ well what did you say overall? What did you say about the good in being rude and mean?

.

What did everyone get for the question about Rockwell: was he idealistic or original?

@Jacob1227‌ idealistic

idealistic

Can anyone post any questions they remember (even the easy ones) so we can get a full list…
(?) means we didn’t go over it, do you agree?

–Rockwell - idealistic
–Author’s tone - optimistic
–Presented information – facts and evidence
–What did he hear – the prayers (?)
–Why did whale turn around – distracted (?)

@Saswizy‌ I basically said that like evil, people may seem rude or mean but that really may not be the case at all and in fact they probably ar good people under that “shell” I talked about in a book how this woman was being rude to her husband’s second wife because she felt threatened be her but eventually we saw how nice she was. Also I used setting saying how since the novel was set in a Muslim world, men could have more than one wife, and this setting could cause tension which made the main character mean.

What were all the options for the Rockwell question?

Then I used point of view to show how the character grew up, what she faced and her feelings towards the new wife an why she felt like being mean to her

Let’s try to get all the answers

@indiangurl yeah, I think you’re good with the example of the two wives and you might be good for the husband but I personally think that Rasheed was pretty evil, haha. I mean, it basically kinda goes with the quote, a little, but I think you should be ok.

@saswizy thanks! Oh and I didn’t tie Rasheed in with the quote. He was evil though!!
