what do you think is a bad new york state regents grade that will still give you a chance to get into the top schools?

You have to do well on the tests, at my school the regents counts as 20% of your final grade for the course.

NYS Regents exams are by no means a very difficult tests. I personally prefer them to regular finals. . .I mean, they for sciences they spell everything out for you in the referance tables.

Social sciences are pretty basic, and English and Foreign Languages are pretty hard to do bad in unless you don't know the format they want.

I'm told that only NYS colleges really look at Regents scores-at my S's school, they are not averaged into course grade (altho the course final is often a past Regents Exam), but they are listed separately on the HS transcript. The Humanities exams are usually pretty easy, but the math and science can be wild cards (e.g. the 2003 Math A Regents which 90% of state failed). My son got into Columbia ED with Regents scores ranging from 86 (in Physics-the highest grade in his school on that exam) to 100 (in English). He also received a NYS scholarship for having the highest Regents exam score average for the school, so maybe that helped....anywho unless you have some glaringly low scores (or took a class but then didn't take the Regents, as several of S's classmates did) I doubt if these are a make or break for admissions...
