When you guys say to read NYT, what exactly do you mean. Are the articles on the home page of New York times articles that will help me on the CR part of the SAT? Or do you mean to actually read the newspaper, or get a digital subscription?

Also, if anyone has other reading material that is great for the SAT please do tell.

I personally enjoy reading Scientific American material, especially topics related to the human mind, and psychology in general. You should check it out too at [Science News, Articles and Information | Scientific American](http://www.scientificamerican.com), and see if you find a topic of your interest. But anyway, the generally recommended websites that provide challenging material that would aid in reading comprehension include: The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, NY Times, Scientific American etc.

You should also be reading novels, depending on how much time you have until your next SAT exam. Read classics, like Pride and Prejudice, and Mice And Men etc. These are books that will increase not only your ability to comprehend challenging reading material but also your speed at it too.

I’ve started reading NYT for SAT too. I usually read articles that interest me. I tend to stay away from the blogs when I “study.” The blogs are probably trustworthy, but I don’t know if they are written by real NYT journalists…

Reading a higher level reading like the NYT allows you to not only read faster for the SAT CR section, but allows you to encounter higher level prose and words that you will face on the test. The NYT allows helps you read more actively because the articles are written in higher prose that requires you to pay attention and understand as you read or you won’t get the articles at all…this in turn helps on the SAT
