If you want to be a journalism major at NYU you are required to do a second major.
@kuhlm44937
1250! But a 4.5 GPA and in the top 10%. I’m a horrible test taker I started a program (the first one of its kind!) at the hospital I volunteer at for teenagers because they’re often left out of most of the activities! Basically matching an long-term, adolescent patient with a teen volunteer.
Received my confirmation today
@ollieforpresident120 my SAT score is a 1270, not much better than yours, and my gpa is a 3.9 unweighted and a 4.8 weighted. I am also in the top 10% of my class, I’m ranked 15/631, and I was admitted during the ED1 round, so in my opinion, I think that you shouldn’t really stress that much. You will be fine. It seems like you have a lot of things that make up for your slightly lower SAT score, and I’m sure NYU will notice that. Best of luck
@ollieforpresident120 I was accepted ED1 into LSP with a slightly higher SAT score (1320) but a much lower gpa (3.67 unweighted). Honestly I think that fit is the most important thing to NYU, so if you have a good “Why NYU” essay and ec’s and stuff you should be fine.
@ollieforpresident120 that’s really not even a bad score! (I was afraid you were going to say 1000 or something lol). The rest of your application will definitely make up for it-especially with that awesome EC!!
@kuhlm44937 thank you so much! I honestly think that college confidential has seriously altered my idea of what “good” score is! Sometimes it feels like everyone here has a perfect score!
@goldfishy19 thank you!! You’ve seriously helped my sanity haha!
@ollieforpresident120 Yes I totally feel that way too! It feels like on a lot of the chance threads I look at people have 34/35 ACT scores.
Does anyone know if NYU offers scholarships such as the MLK one for early decision applicants or just regular? I’ve only seen people who apply regular get rewarded it.
You know what else is very confusing and misleading? Unweighted and weighted GPAs. They are calculated so differently by every HS that the numbers are meaningless for comparing ourselves to one another.
Does anyone know how to make sure they received the CSS Profile and FAFSA? I can’t find it on the Albert portal and I got a text reminding all ED2 applicants to submit them by the 15th
@vwnyu22 I haven’t finished my CSS profile (I’m RD so I have a little time left), but for fafsa they just tell you it’s been processed and sent to your schools. It’s just a matter of NYU reviewing it once you’re accepted. The text was probably just a general message sent out to all ED2 applicants.
@vwnyu22 My CSS profile is on my portal, but my FAFSA is not. I know of others that do not have the FAFSA on their account either, so you might only see the CSS if it is received.
@allycat231 where do you see this on the portal?
Is NYU rolling admission for regular decision?
Seriously money is not an issue for me, I just want to get in bro.
@Joezzzzz wow that must be nice haha. It’ll be a two-step thing for me. 1: if I get in, and then 2: they give me enough aid to not be crushed by debt the rest of my life. Good Luck!
@vwnyu22 it’s under “View My To Do List” on the side under financial aid
Did everyone get a “please tell us why you chose to apply to NYU” email from the marketing dept at the school today?
