Does NYU release admissions staristics by school (acceptance rate, avg gpa, etc.)? I feel like this info would be useful since there is a lot of variability from school to school within NYU. Thanks.

1470/1600 Median SAT (Math + CR)
1446/1600 Mean SAT (Math + CR)
Mean/Median GPA is no longer published as of 2016.
Tandon: 35% (Class of 2019)
LSP: Unpublished (Higher than overall WSP acceptance rate)
CAS: Unpublished (Estimated ~20-25% from unofficial sources; probably lower this year than previous)
Steinhardt: Overall Unpublished; Different majors have different acceptance rates
Tisch: Overall Unpublished; Different majors have different acceptance rates
I know this isn’t very helpful, but most of the schools don’t publish their independent statistics. You can find unofficial/estimated numbers from random people who can’t refer back to an actual source if you’d like. Expect a higher level of competition when applying to Stern and Tisch compared to other schools, however.
Expect the overall class of 2021 acceptance rates to come out within the next few months, since they’re still in the process of accepting transfer and waitlisted students.
@fedorable why is the CAS transfer rate lower this year than previous ones?
Sorry for the extremely late reply, but it completely depends on how many people from LS transfer into CAS and the overall number of applicants, since class size generally stays the same, and CAS, like all other schools, have a maximum number of students they can accept.
If you want this year’s statistics, just drop the acceptance rates by 5-8%. Apparently NYU accepted only 26% of its applicants in 2017 compared to its usual 30-35%.
Only 26% that’ a big drop compared to previous years…
My use of “only” was to emphasize the drop.
