Hey all, so I applied to Stern (and triple checked on Common App) but in Albert my program is now Polytechnic school of engineering and my degree is now Business and Technology Management. Has this happened to anyone else? I've seen threads where people got put into liberal studies core but not something like my case.

My gut would be that you’re accepted to NYU if you’re willing to be in Poly instead of Stern but I’m no expert at all. All I know is what I’ve read here, and that’s not nearly enough to prove a correlation. You’ll know for sure at some point on Friday.

Same thing happenned to me, School was changed from Arts and Sciences to Polytechnic School of Engineering, and Major changed from Physics to Applied Physics

I checked my commonapp questions to verify, and indeed I applied for A&S/Physics. I also checked the box saying that they could consider me for other programs instead of the one applied for, so that must’ve been what happened.

Ofcourse, we will know for sure on Friday, but I can’t imagine any other reason for the change.

That said, I’m almost glad, because choosing between Northeastern and NYU would’ve been tough, but this pretty much means that I am going to Northeastern!

and I can still count it as being accepted ;)

So if there has been no change should we take that as a positive sign that we have a shot at our intended school?

I think if there’s no change, you either got into your intended school, or you were rejected.
I think it’s more of a positive sign if there’s a change. If not, it’s more up in the air

if you were rejected from your intended school then wouldn’t it change? or does nyu outright reject without consideration of other schools in light of you choosing to be considered for others

Yea that actually sounds logical, but then again, I know that a few of my friends didn’t get any status change too and I don’t think it means we all got accepted (it would be nice if it meant that :D). Btw, did they inform you (OP) of the status change by email? OP did you also express interest in another particular course, which could be another reason for NYU’s decision to change your program?

@theworker, no they didn’t inform me by email, I never had a status change, I am still under stern for program(thankfully?). I checked my status myself for reference…I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Although I checked the box to consider me for other programs, i don’t believe anything in my application showed that I had true interest in anything outside of business or economics, my essay showed off much of my leadership skills and why i picked NYU and Stern etc. etc. with my own personal twist

Nope, no email notification and I did check to box to be considered for other schools if I was rejected from Stern.

^^^^^
Same as fangdango

No notification, but did check the box to be considered for alternate programs.

If your status changed, then you have almost certainly been accepted into the program it states now, and will not be placed into the original program that you applied to. If it has not changed, then you have either been accepted or rejected into the original program, and will have to wait to find out.

Just a quick update, I emailed an admissions counselor and asked about this. The response he gave me was this:
Unfortunately, Albert will constantly be in flux and not 100% accurate this week as a result of final decisions being processed by our system. Please just ignore what Albert says and wait for your final decision on Friday.

Warm regards,
Billy Sichel

Thanks for the information @fangdango!
