What's the best way to coordinate these auditions? Some are unified, some aren't but a lot of them are on the same weekend in NYC... Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I’m not sure of the unifeds and how they work into your schedule but my only advice is to stay as close as you can to where your auditions are going to be. My D had an early morning audition at NYU in the chelsea district and we stayed right across the street. It made a huge difference knowing we were there the night before and did not have to deal with even a cab ride. It might cost more but it was worth every penny from minimal stress aspect.

WellMeaningDad, my kid (now a sophomore at NYU Tisch) did a whole bunch of auditions, both part of the National Unifieds and not, during her audition season, so I know something about this. I am not sure exactly what you are asking, but I am guessing you want to know how to piece the auditions together so that they work, timewise.

To the best of my recollection (and I am getting old, so this may be more general than specific), my D scheduled tried to schedule most of her unified auditions on one day, and the non-unifieds-but-also-in-NY on the other day. In other words, I believe we arrived a day early for Unifieds and she did her Juilliard audition that day, then had the Unifieds auditions (all musical theater) on Saturday morning and afternoon, and then went offsite to Fordham and Guthrie the following day. It worked out beautifully.

Get to the Unifieds early and set up your dance and acting/singing auditions. The dance auditions may last 1.5 hours each (CCM + Boco). Some schools only have 2 or 3 dance auditions per day.

I personally would have a must see or priority list and set those up first. Then you can fill in with other auditions as time allows. Also, try to get as many auditions as possible on location. Good luck and keep calm.

It depends on how many auditions you have. Acting auditions don’t take that long. You have to decide if you need to do more than two a day. More than two a day is doable, but could be hectic and tiring.

If you have only, say, 5 or 6 auditions, you might try to schedule it so you arrive in NYC on Thursday evening of Unifieds week, spend the night in a hotel, then go to two or three auditions on Friday and two or three auditions on Saturday, leaving for home Saturday evening.

Thanks all – I’ll let you know how we make out
