I've heard rumors on how stingy the financial aid office at NYU can be, but never in my nightmares did I think it would be this bad . . ..

My credentials aren't the best, but they're solid. I got a 2310 on the SAT (1570 with just math and critical reading), I'm a National Merit Finalist and still in the running to be a Scholar, I'm an AP Scholar, I have a 3.8 GPA on the 4.0 scale, I'm President of the Speech and Debate Club and hold officer positions in various other organizations, and participate in service and community activities.

What's more, my family's EFC is less than $5000, showing considerable need-based aid.

According to the Online Financial Aid Summary, I'm only receiving $2,030 in scholarships a year.

Some people have said it's because I applied ED II that I'm receiving so little money, but others who applied ED II and have similar/worse credentials than mine are receiving up to 15 times more.

At this point, I'm really hoping it's a clerical error or something.

Any explanations?
