NYU chances- and im not the typical CC'er.

I can relate to anyone who is tired of chancing all those ppl on cc with the same 3.8-4.0 gpa's and 2250 sat blah blah blah, they're so great. So, im giving you a break; you can chance ME!!!! the not-so-great CC'er, that actally wants to KNOW if he/she could get in, rather than wanting to get tons of comlpiments. here, goes:

Senior year:

SAT2 US history: 700.
SAT2 LIT: 650

SAT: superscored: 650Math, 670 Critical Reading, 690 writing.

Extra curic's,volunteer:

head of policitical ation club, editor of 2 politcal magazine, and one literary magazine. (some kind of editor position, at least. though usually the editor-in-chief) . buisness club. stock market club. debate officer. political speaking club. summer internship at local newspaper (totaled approx. 150+ hours). year-round job; most days during summer, but once a week during the week. intramurals. and some other little stuff, but im forgetting.

Other stuff to be noted (cause the more info the more accurate the "chance" will be):

-school is dual-curriculum, meaning day is twice as long as public school.
-i have no legacy at nyu whatsoever.
-school offers relativly little amount of Ap courses: only about 6- most of which are science, math based :(.
-school has big honors program.
-self-studied AP Human Geography- 5. self-studied ZGov and pol.-4
-school doesn't rank.
-aprox. accumulative GPA of all highschool: 3.5-3.7.
-please dont disregard that significant upward trend! i hear its important and can rlly help!
-please remember that freshman year is supposedly the least important!

anyway, thanks in advance anyone who chances me.

You can also include...GW, MD, Rutgers Honors, Brandies, American University, Boston University, Yale (no, just kidding). And, of course, NYU.

bumpbumpbump

bump, bumpity, bump. i judt like bumping a few times after my post cause ppl tend to go to threads that have more responses

Decent shot, though I would expect no aid.

thanks. anyone else??

I don’t really know too much about those schools in particular, but I think you have done really well for yourself- I’d say based on SAT
GW: Target/ safety
MD: where?
Rutgers: Safety? IDK about Honors program
Brandeis: Reach
AU: Target
BU: Target
NYU: Reach

Good Luck!

NYU’s a match, but I agree with Redroses. You probably won’t get aid.

im just focused on getting in, and keeping it open as an option. so even withour fincial aid, im just happy ppl are callin git a match.

thanks.

Anyone else??

bump bump bbumpp

I think you have a decent shot at NYU but your SAT score could be higher :-)

Grades + ECs are good though

With 100 more hours of volunteer work i think you would be fine. Your GPA is good enough you should just worry about ec’s

thanks guys. @ ^ i actually thoguht i have pretty good EC"s; what other EC’s were you thkning of that would make my ec’s better? do u think i have above-avergae or below average ec’s for NYU?

NYU is a reach for you. I think you’re a good candidate, but everything’s a bit low for NYU’s standards.

Your EC’s are fine, don’t worry about them. Your SATs are fine too; they’re in the upper half of the middle 50% range for NYU. Brandeis is a reach, GW is a low reach, but American and BU are right on target. I don’t know much about Rutgers honors or MD. I’d say NYU is a good match for you - of course, nothing’s guaranteed but I think you have a great shot.

As a Maryland resident, I’d say you have a pretty good chance at College Park. I am also apply to UMD and BU; we have some pretty similar stats. You also have a clear focus in your EC’s and an upward trend- good things. Good luck!
