NYU, Columbia, Baruch

Hey everyone,

I'm new here, as everyone can tell. I just have a few questions about my chances of getting into these schools.

I will graduate from a community college with a 3.7 GPA in Economics. I would like to know my chances of getting into NYU, Columbia. I know these are one of the most prestigious finance schools in the nation. So, do I even have a chance?? I have one semester left at my college. What can I do to improve my slim chances of getting in? I played soccer my first year, and that's about it. I know i should've joined the econ. and finance club early, but if i join next semester for one semester is it too late??

Please provide feedback. Also, Baruch would be my backup school. Any other school I could look at that have a really good Finance program that are in NYC.

Thanks,

What are your SAT scores? They would need to be pretty high for Stern at NYU and for Columbia. Can you afford NYU ($60K plus/yr), there’s little aid for transfers there.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven’t taken the SAT’s, yet. My college has a transfer agreement with NYU, and Columbia. Does that matter at all, would I still have to take the SAT’s?? Also, how do you feel about Baruch??

Sorry if i sound like a ■■■■■, everybody. I’m just anxious, and just started looking into it. I know, late.

Again, thanks.

Haven’t you discussed this with your CC advisor? If your school has transfer agreements with these schools, then they would know whether or or not you need to take the SAT.

I’m going to meet with an advisor on Monday. So, I’ll see what he says. If I do have to take the SAT’s which I prob anyway knowing this information. Is my GPA at least something they would consider??

GPA is always considered.

You need to find out from your CC advisor the specifics of the transfer agreements with these schools, this detail of information is not something you should count on from an internet forum.
