@zolosc mine says granted as well! thank goodness! do you think this could be an indication of a possible acceptance or no?
@zolosc yah my NCP waiver was granted as well! Do you think this has a correlation with being accepted?
I don’t think they’re correlated tbh. If anything it means they’re just getting to it I think…best of luck though
@talath @goldfishy19 congratulations guys! I know I’m not speaking for myself when I say that I was so so worried that it would be denied omg. As for whether it is a good indicator of acceptance, I have two ideas about it…
The first one is that it seems unnecessary for the financial aid committee to spend the time to grant waivers/organize financial aid packages for all students before decisions are made. With this being said, I believe decisions have already been made at this point, because in this article http://admissionsblog.nyu.edu/2016/03/16/behind-the-scenes-of-admissions-committee/ it says that the committee finalizes decisions a few weeks before the decision dates, and THEN the financial aid committee looks over accepted applications and organizes financial aid packages. If the decisions have already been made–probably for at least a week now–it would not make sense to me that they would look over the financial aid of students who are not accepted and grant them waivers that will be useless.
My second idea is that financial aid and admissions do not work together whatsoever, and that our waivers being granted has nothing to do with an indication of acceptance haha.
I have no idea honestly, I’ve just been thinking about this a lot. Take what I’ve just said with a grain of salt; I don’t want to get mine, or anyone else’s, hopes up. If anyone knows information that would totally contradict what I wrote, let me know lol!
But they would grant fee waivers accepted or denied… right?
I think so because whether you’re accepted or denied, you have to pay money for the application itself. You only pay for tuition if accepted, so I would think they only grant NCP CSS profile waiver requests for accepted students. But I’m not sure. Anyone else have any ideas?
Did anyone see the Thanksgiving episode of the TV show Bull? It has a character finding out the week before Thanksgiving that she got into NYU early decision!
@zolosc yeah so I was thinking the same thing. The FA office isn’t going to waste time looking over waivers for people that have been denied, like it just doesn’t make sense. They get sooooo many applicants and creating FA packages for people that have been denied hella seems like a waste of time. Like you said decisions have been made by now and they might’ve granted our waivers because they are starting to create our FA packages. But idk, I don’t wanna read too much into it and think I might be getting accepted and then end up getting rejected. I’m just not gonna think about it anymore and wait, it’s literally just like two more weeks, and then we’ll know for sure. Good Luck though!
@goldfishy19 exactly! We’ll just have to wait and see now. Good luck to you too!!
GPA UW - 93
GPA W - 96 (my school barely weights honors and AP)
My school’s AP classes are merit based so you need a 94 to get in the class in the corresponding subject the previous year. Also, we don’t have a whole lot of them. But I took AP USH junior year and this year I’m taking AP Gov’t/Econ, AP Eng IV, AP Physics, Astronomy (elective), Stats AP, Media (elective), and required theology
Almost all my other classes are Honors with the exception of the three years I took Spanish and theology classes are only offered at the base level for everyone
SAT - 1450 (730 RW and 720 Math)
USH SAT II - 740 (4 on the AP test)
EC’s:
- I've done paid work and volunteer works for various judicial campaigns in my state
- Studied abroad for one academic year (wrote my common app essay about this)
- Various volunteer work
- Full-time job over the summer after junior year
- President of school's political awareness club
- Did an international and business law program at the University of Toronto (I'm not Canadian but it was an awesome program that was way cheaper than anything in the US)
As for letters and rec and stuff, I think they were pretty good but I can’t rate them. My why NYU was pretty good I think
If it matters I’m a white girl from Texas (in a city where no one goes to NYU)
@zolosc Thanks! let us know about your decision when it comes out. I’m curious to see if there was a correlation between getting your NCP waiver granted and an acceptance to NYU.
@goldfishy19 I’m curious too, so will do!
My username, DOB, and NYU email arent listed, does that mean I got rejected?
Nope. Updates on the housing portal come in waves. Some people don’t even see changes at all until hours before the decision, so don’t worry!!
are you sure? becase kids in my school have gotten the changes, and one kid even got an FA change
Well according to many EDI threads from last year (of which I have looked at way too often, lol), some people had no FA or housing changes until a few hours before their decision came out, and they got in. The theories about these changes are truly only theories! We still have until the 15th to see changes, so anything could happen until then.
@Kd6410 Thanks for the stats! I think you are a really competitive applicant even without Calculus, as your ECs are already closed related to BPE. The business law program should also be a huge plus. (Now I regret so much for not taking something like this lol) Hope we both get in!
Anyone else applying to Tisch for Film Production? I feel like I’m the only one in this thread ahahaha
Does anyone know how many people have actually applied ED 1 or is there any way to see how many have?
@talath already tried finding other tisch applicants, not much luck! im applying for photo tho haha
