So what is the housing change?
https://housing.nyu.edu/newyork this site will allow you to check your housing status
@classof2022 no FA change. Two of my friends got it, two haven’t. No strong correlation with ACT or GPA…so keep our faith :">
Can everyone log into https://housing.nyu.edu/newyork and check the left side’s “Profile Summary?”
Has anyone else been issued a ___@nyu.edu e-mail? My “Profile Summary” just consisted of my name, ID, housing status, and date of birth, but after refreshing it a personalized e-mail address was added.
@KR0292991 I have NYU email on housing portal. No FA change though…
I have an email that just showed up today too, but it still says undergraduate not freshman
I have an email that showed up as well but does everyone else?
It seems as though everybody gets the NYU email, so it doesn’t seem to be any indication of acceptance as much I wish it were.
Still no FA change? Did anyone else not get it yet?
Literally multiple CURRENT NYU STUDENTS have told you the FA change means NOTHING so why are people still freaking out about it? Just wait three more days. We’re so close.
There is in fact an association between the FA change and admittance–that is, many people that got the FA change also got admitted. BUT 1) there are many people who did NOT get the FA change and got admitted 2) there are some people who got the FA change but were denied.
The housing change from nonrenewable undergraduate to freshman is a far more reliable indicator of acceptance. But most people, it seems, don’t get a change until hours or even minutes before the decision is released.
In the meantime, we all need to relax! Why do you all want to go to NYU?
@belahorizon I visited the city of New York when I was nine and it blew me away, I knew instantly that I wanted to live there, so I started looking at New York colleges. I really liked NYU for it’s good science programs (if you watch their video they have a whole building dedicated to geneology research which I thought was cool) and I liked it’s good study abroad programs. I’ve never been out of the US before so I really want to be able to travel in college at least for a semester or two. When I saw all the cool places you can go for NYU, I was amazed. My mom and I flew to NYC at the end of my sophomore year and I fell in love with the city again. After seeing NYU’s campus up close, I was sold. There’s nowhere I’d rather go to school
Edit: I started looking at new york colleges when I got in high school, not when I was nine lol
Job opportunities!
We all need to realize something. NYU is definitely a dream school for thousands of people, however, NYU cannot admit that many into the university. So with that in mind, remember that rejection/failure are a part of life and stressing over it every single day on this dumbass website that literally uses no facts is going to ruin you and your future prospects at applying to high level universities. Please people. Majority of the admitted students don’t even use CC, so to base your chances at a wonderful school and even more antagonize over those said chances is a waste of time and will ruin your day every day.
I am not saying this out of spite, but, I’m going to be okay if NYU doesn’t admit me. I understand many will take that in a negative connotation so here goes: it’s not the university you go to, it’s what you do with where you go. My plan is to go to law school, and though NYU undergrad feed into very high level universities, it isn’t the only university that does so. So really take some time over the next couple days to re-evaluate your future, and decide whether getting into NYU will make or break you. Though this is my philosophy, please don’t take this to mean that you should come to terms with a rejection. It’s about facing the future. Thank You guys. And also, don’t worry about the FA change it’s bullcrap.
The book “Where You Go is Not Who You’ll Be” by Frank Bruni is an excellent read and so appropriate considering our circumstances. He discusses the college admissions mania and the overarching theme of the importance of where you finish, not where you start. Haven’t been able to put it down because it’s so inspiring and puts me at such ease! Totally relevant to what @didders28 wrote and couldn’t agree more with them.
Also, if you’re looking for more inspo, the ED transfer thread is full of wonderful people from all over the world who have successfully transferred to NYU from less presitigious universities. Some food for thought for both myself and you all, perhaps if it’s not our year this year, it doesn’t mean our time won’t eventually come
What other schools are you guys looking into? I honestly am not sure where else to look if this decision doesn’t go as planned and would love if you guys gave a few colleges I could look into
If location was a deciding factor in applying to NYU, then I would suggest other schools in Manhattan, such as Fordham, the New School, etc.
