Did anyone else get this on their NYU global home profile?
You do not yet have a Profile in NYU Home, but don’t worry, you will soon. You’re probably seeing this because you’re an incoming student who’s using NYU Home or an Alumni. We do not load profiles for students until they are matriculated. In case of Alumni, please continue to use Alumni information system (Advance). In the meantime, any NYU community member, like yourself, can use the Services and People tabs of NYU Home. If you’re not an incoming student or an Alumni, then you may be receiving this message in error. Please contact the NYU IT Service Desk.
I just got accepted into SUNY Stony Brook which has a similar but slightly larger acceptance rate to NYU ED. Is this a good indicator? Its a New York school too, so I can only hope
Housing status change to "freshman," from the day before decisions are released all the way up to about 30 minutes before (even so, some people claim to have not gotten it yet still got accepted)
YES, this was 100% true last year. I kept looking at it like a madman but did NOT tell her about it. I was convinced she was not going to get in (glass half empty) and was leaving my office about 2 hours before the decision to show her support in the event of bad news.
Within that 2 hour window the status changed to Freshman. I was afraid to tell anyone because the last thing I wanted to do was get her excited and be wrong. However, at least it took the edge of my own anxiety.
This turned out to be the only reliable indicator last year and I am shocked they don’t figure out a way to remove this glitch. Read the board from last year, there were FA notice kids who were rejected
Just FYI
My daughter is Tisch Drama 2021.
Her grades were only ok (3.2) in a hard HS with 1 AP
ACT 32
Very strong essay and a very focused presentation on leadership and 5 years of Chinese (and China trip)
Demonstrated leader: multiple leadership positions throughout HS
I think it all came down to the audition frankly… If they like you, the academics can be on the edge.
The drama audition is a real bonus since you really get a chance to impress real people who can influence admissions.
It’s a stressful time. Just like I told her, you will end up in a place that fits you. Luckily she was accepted and the first semester has been great. NYU is an fantastic school but I really believe that is exactly where she fit in and where she belongs.
Good luck to everyone. Enjoy it if accepted and onward and upward if you are not…
A humble suggestion here -Pace. My teachers/ friends say I’m over qualified, but I applied and have been accepted into its honors college with great scholarship. I want to stay in NY for career development after graduation. It has strong connections in East coast, a good career center and internship opportunities. Just a few blocks away from NYU… after all, it’s all up to what you want. NYU definitely is my dream school, but I keep an option for myself.
I haven’t really seen any change on my account and my NYU email still hasn’t shown up either in my housing portal. I haven’t gotten an FA change or anything. Also, does anyone know if NYU releases decisions all at once or throughout the day? Do rejections come early in the morning? There are so many myths about this stuff.
Also, I’ve heard LSP accepts super low GPA’s. Is this true?
@strangertingz I haven’t seen changes either. None of that stuff matters; You can get in without a change, you can get rejected with one. I believe they release them all at once at the time allotted (either 4pm or 5pm EST I’ve been kind of confused on that as their different sources say different things) but I’m not 100% positive.
As for LSP, it depends on
@strangertingz NYU does not accept low GPA’s, period. You have to be of a certain academic caliber to be accepted into the school. There’s a myth that LS is easier to get into, but from talking to the friends in my classes in LS, everyone took rigorous courses in high school, had high GPA’s (usually above 4.0), and great test scores.
I heard that there were many legacies applying this year. Do you think they get preference over the others? Do you know any legacies who got in with bad grades?
