@SquadGoals might mean a rejection. who knows
Was looking at previous years’ forums for ed2 and apparently they came out on february 13th.
do you guys think our decision will DEFINITELY come out on february 15th or could it be earlier?
also: does anyone know of specific times for acceptances? apparently they came out in “waves”, meaning rejections came out first at like 2 am, then 6 am, and acceptances after 3 pm eastern time- any thoughts on what to expect?
@user66974 because ED 1 came on the date exactly, i’m not sure there’s a good chance this will come out early. and i believe they do get released in waves and will continue that practice, so their systems don’t get overloaded.
It seems like a decent number of people got the “there is no application available for you at this time”, but mine are still both completely unchanged and non-renewable. And I just got a card from NYU that said they received my application. Should I be at all worried? I submitted two months ago…seems a bit late.
@user66974 @pizzaandpeonies The only reason it was in waves last year was because it was sent by email. Now NYU has moved to releasing decisions through the portal, so all decisions will come out at the same time, which is most likely to be on the 15th of February. However, if they get done early like they did last year, there is a chance that it will come earlier too.
do you think it’ll just come out with no email until the 15th or do you think they’ll send an email notifying us the decision is online, regardless of the date it comes out @kdr2698
@user66974 they’ll probably email us saying the decisions are available.
Wow… this possibility is making me even more nervous…
Guys I think the date is set in stone for the 15th,

Don’t know if it will be subject to change though
For ED1 this year, the decision came at exactly 5PM ET (with the exception of some international candidates). Previous years, decisions came in waves with rejections coming first. But this year, most if not all were released at 5PM. If they NYU does what they did with ED1 decision day, just keep refreshing the Albert page and a button will pop up at 5PM.
@iywang Hi do you mind checking if you have Freshman under Spring in NYC on housing page. I put Stern as first choice and CAS as 2nd. Just worried if i only get into CAS… Thank you so much!!!
guys - first, the decisions will be released only on Albert and you will probably wont even get an email about your decision being released, because last year those mails were in waves because they didn’t want to break the servers. so why would they send the email for 60k people exactly at the same time saying “check your decision somewhere else because we didn’t want to send them through mail because last year we broke servers”? the decisions will be released exactly at the same time for everybody, at 5pm EST on Albert. just go and check it at this time and that will be all.
Last year the card arrived in the middle of January for me, and I submitted my app on the 1st. basically, this year I have received nothing and I was so upset because I think that I lost my previous one hahaha.
you guys also should not expect decisions being released earlier and I think that this is okay. just really, wait patiently and stop trying to predict or beg for those decisions to come out earlier. that seems as much sick as crying over not having a housing change at this point or so. calm down and wait, you are lucky enough to have those decisions in little over one week, not in another 2 months.
let me tell you something totally personal, from what I have heard and what I realised after applying basically last year to nyu. this is the classic case of people who put stern as a first choice, and if they won’t get in, they want to be in cas probably for economics. and there are couple of people who did it just the same as you and nyu is usually very mad at people who do it, because putting any school as a “second choice”, for them does not look like OMG, I didn’t got into first one but I love nyu and second choice is great af as well, they think that the second choice that you put is the one that you consider as worse. for eg. eh, I wanted to get into stern but I only got into cas. and then you think that cas is “worse”, when in realty this school is one of the hardest along to stern to get into. I have heard that this is the classic case of putting cas as a second choice and stern as a 1st, but because there are tons of people who did it just the same as you did, nyu got really mad at this. it is like a person who wanted steinhardt as a first choice and stern as a second. they see those things differently. some schools within nyu just cannot be put as a second choice only because of their overall significance. and this is not basically of how much you want to get into one school. if you want to be either at steinhard or cas, then you put cas as a first choice. literally many people that I know told me that unless you have decent stats and something to show about you, they are not gonna admit a student to such a great school as cas only because he did not get into stern, because they know that there are tons of students for whose cas will be a first choice, not only backup. and basically this long message is ONLY about this case with cas-stern. oh I know how to express it - it is not likely that you will get into cas when rejected from stern. they look at which program you applied as a first choice and it does not work such independly as we might think. this info came off from some applicants and from last year and from somebody whose parent works at nyu as a teacher or something. I’m just sharing with you some info. @gettingintostern
that’s exactly what’s happening to me. I still have non-renewable and I just got the NYU card too!! why so late?
there is no correlation between those two. you get the card anyway, while this non-renewable thing indicates most likely whether you are rejected or not. @djkap11
I really hope that’s not true because that’s exactly what I did.
I even wrote part of my essay about stern.
Oh god. This is not looking good for me.
as you can see, there are even plenty of people here who did it exactly as you. and honestly, even I did it last year because I thought - ohhhh, i would love to get into stern for finances, but if it won’t work out, then i may end up in cas for econ. and literally tons of people did it and nyu got extremely mad, that for stern applicants, cas is only a less satisfying backup, when for others, that school is a priority (and it should be, because cas is almost as much competitive). i think a different case occurs when somebody expresses interest for eg. in business, journalism and kind of also does not know what to do with oneself. and then this person puts stern as a first choice, cas (journalism) as a second and lsp as a second. but the worst thing happens when a kid talks all over in his/her essays about passion towards business, economics, accounting etc. and puts stern as a first and cas as a second. NYU does not review it independently as that you are interested in cas AND stern, but they take a look at which campus you kind of claim as your priority. thus, there is FIRST CHOICE and second is combined basically with the rest. and this is really a small factor at which they look, but they do. and they kind of do not like it when students put their glorious, most-wanted schools as a backup (stern-cas) or when they put their most-wanted school for a second option (also stern-cas, stenihardt-stern, lsp-stern). I hope that you know what I mean because it is hard for me to clarify it in few words. this is the info that I got by talking with people who were applying last year and also I literally found a person, whose mother is working at NYU and she said that this is kind of obvious after some internet research and after having conversations with current students or so.
somebody told me last year that nyu got seriously mad at people who do this, especially this case with Stern-Cas, and you can even see that this is a serious issue since there are plenty of people who did it. it only confirms my information provided here. people who put stern as a first choice and if they will got rejected, it is rather totally not likely for them to get into cas (when that is what they chose as a second choice), UNLESS they are so unique that NYU really wants them to be at NYU. im not saying that is IMPOSSIBLE, but when I have been confronting this info with some students last year, they said “duuude, this is obvious, you did not know?”
So NYU literally has tons of people for whom cas is a priority and they definitely are not likely to let a Sternie applicant end up in Cas when rejected from stern. Unless a kid is fking awesome and they can handle that pain of indignity.
I hope that you guys get what I said. It is just complicated when it comes to explain this. I swear I thought that you at least heard about it.
don’t worry, you most likely will end up in Stern. but you should be conscious that there are few people who did it just in the same way as you did and NYU is already well-informed of how students think about things and that is why it is said that most likely rejected sternies won’t end up being admitted to cas. you should think whether you have your stats better for stern, cas or both. if you have decent stats for cas but not very good ones for stern (for example) and you will end up being rejected, then you will just simply confirm this info above. as you would see in that case, they would reject you from stern for not being too much competitive, but from cas as well, because that is bad when you put cas as a second choice. let me know what will happen because I am very curious. @dehca2016
I didn’t apply for housing since I live in NYC but I got the housing change anyways. Does that make sense? Thanks!
