*****NYU Early Decision 2 Class of 2021 Discussion*****

@gnm259 it’s highly not possible to get an answer before Feb 15th.

Anyone in this thread applied for HEOP?

is 1390/1600 solid for CAS though? @Suj170499 @chaoz
the converted average from the old SAT is like 1410, however i know that the conversion table is a bit harsh from what ive seen and it doesn’t take into account many factors. What are your honest opinions? x

@gnm259 Personally, I would say a SAT score of 1390/1600 is pretty solid for CAS, but there are many other contributing factors for this year.

However, one thing I would say for sure is, this year they would put more emphasis on other parts of the application ( GPA, ESSAYS, etc) and not the SAT because they don’t have any past data — all they have is the conversion, which is not 100% accurate. Therefore, I think everyone that has a SAT higher than 1300 gets a fair chance.

@chaoz I don’t really agree. Conversion is pretty solid, I believe. Plus they already have the ED 1 so I think they might have a sense of what the average is

@TheLastofUs9 Yes but they haven’t released the information about that. I agree that the ED1 data will be used but i do think that it will differ from the conversion chart. Other factors include the hardened Math section, lengthier english section, not being able to memorise vocabulary and increase your score etc. Which all may offset the adjustment made in the conversions for the penalty of getting an answer wrong.

Maybe I’m just being naive as i’m a bit salty that my score doesn’t translate to what I would think it would in the Old SAT, but from everyone in my school who’s taken the new SAT they feel the same. However to each is their own

@chaoz thanks again! I’m just really anxious for this decision tbh
Did you apply? if so where

hey! I have applied ED2, I am an international student, from Eastern Europe. I wonder if there is a chance of acceptance with a GPA of 90% out of 100. (we do not report as you do that in the US)…
I’ve got a great EC profile, as well a probably very strong recommendation, and a good essay…
Chance me, pls:)

@TheLastofUs9 Hi, I am not saying the SAT score conversion chart is totally off. What I am saying is because this year is the first time of the new SAT so they would put more emphasis on other areas.

Also, I do agree with ED 1 might have provided them a sense of average SAT, but the number of applicants that applied to ED 1 are far less than RD, so the data they got might not be a representation of average SAT for this year.

@gnm259 I applied to CAS for Biology and LAS + HEOP.

Sadly, my SAT score is only 1340 —Verbal or Reading: 600, Math: 740

Guys, is there any news of interviews? Several of my RD schools have contacted me for them, but NYU hasn’t yet.

@plshelpmicollege Are you in the US? NYU doesn’t typically do interviews unless your an international applicant.

From the website: Interviews. NYU occasionally invites candidates to interview with us online (not on campus). NYU will contact you if you are invited. Applicants cannot request interviews.

@Fishnlines29 yes I am in the US. That make sense. I did see that on their website, but its reassuring to know US candidates are typically not interviewed.

@plshelpmicollege NYU doesn’t offer interviews unfortunately :frowning:

There are only interviews for NYU HEOP

@gnm259 Don’t worry about it too much. Most of the conversion tables are just based on math ratios. There a bunch of other factors not taken into account. I got a 1900 on the old SAT on my first try but the best I’ve gotten on the new one is 1330.

@Farahana Hi, do you know when NYU starts to invite students to the interview of HEOP?

Nope  I’m assuming the interviews are sometime soon tho. I haven’t gotten anything yet

@Farahana I thought the interview for HEOP would be after the ED II results… Also, how do we know if we get accepted to HEOP?

Nah it’s before . It will say we were accepted to that in the letter
