Hey
I am an Asian immigrant female in the US.
My high school gpa is 3.94(weighted ), my school doesn’t do unweighted.
Rank:2
SAT: 1440( 800 m, 640 E)
TOEFL: 111
English is my new language
Been in the US for 2 years
Taking 5 APs in senior year( AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Calculus AB, AP English, and AP Computer Science principles)
All regents scores are 90+
I am from really really low income family.
My ECs are good enough; though I couldn’t do any internship, I explained my situation to be a newcomer in this country.
My essays are great
My recommendations are awesome.
I applied to Tandon for Chemical Engineering for ED 2
What are my chances of getting in?

@msjacy you have a green card? What is your actual country of origin?
Chances of getting in are probably reasonable given your background, chances of getting enough funding to make it realistic are another story.

Anyone apply ED2 to Gallatin?

Does anyone know when ED2 decisions come out? Is it Feb 15 or earlier?

I am applying as an ED ll applicant for Hotel Management in SPS. I have a low SAT and a 3.7 GPA with some AP’s and a 93 GPA. However, I have interned and am continuing to intern at a hotel that is very well-known in NYC and around the world. I just don’t know if it’s enough to get me in.

@CBSQandA I checked and it looks like last year ED2 came out Feb 14th. ? Was really hoping earlier but I doubt it.

Well…Feb 14 was a Thursday, so maybe we will hear on the 13th? the 15th is a Saturday

Well EDI came out Dec 12 this year, and the NYU website said the decision would be December 15. So maybe we will be Feb 12?

yes I do have green cards and all other legal documents. I am a permanent resident and going to be a US citizen within next 3 years.

My origin country is Bangladesh

@msjacy Ok, so you count as a domestic for admissions (good) but have the interesting angle of a country background that is probably in itself underrepresented at NYU - a positive combination for admissions. Good luck, especially with funding decisions.

I am just hoping for good. First I took ED1, but then they asked for TOEFL. Then I updated to ED2 and took TOEFL. I don’t know what’s gonna happen. Is ED2 harder than ED1 ?

Moreover my case is really unique. Even though I am an domestic student in paper, I need to fulfill some academics requirements like an international student. It’s very unique that a domestic student has to take TOEFL which is actually for international students. I also have high school transcript from two countries. 9th grade from Bangladesh and 10,11,12 from US. Though I couldn’t discover any internship opportunities before senior year, I explained in my common app what it’s to be like a newcomer in this country with no language or any guidance. From my school, most people actually go to CUNY and Community Colleges, their average SAT is around 1000. But my SAT is 1440 and right now my GPA is 104.5 out of 100. My school is for immigrant kids who never spoke English before. Do you think that my school’s background would work for me to get in NYU?

Anyone NYU Tandon?

So I saw that NYU Abu Dhabi is doing this candidate weekend thing…Does this mean anything for people who applied ED II to the NYC campus?

I applied to ED2 on HEOP program. But I didn’t get any invitation for interview for HEOP program. Does that mean I haven’t gotten accepted ? I am really worried. Does NYU take any interview like ivy’s?

My daughter is applying ED2 to NYU. Her SAT score reports were sent by the College Board to NYU, the first one in September, and the second one in December. The December report contains her October SAT scores. But on her application portal, it shows that Standardized Test Scores were received in September. Does it imply that the second report hasn’t been received or the scores haven’t been updated? Does anybody else have the same problem?
