Hi all…

Would love to know if anyone has any idea of my chances…
Applied ED with a 3.69 GPA weighted, 33 ACT, many different extracurriculars and a strong essay… anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

If that gpa is weighted then NYU is a reach but I think your ACT score is a bump.

Is applying regular decision give you that much of a disadvantage?? I am not okay with applying and committing without looking at other options.

@mkvets I thought NYU is need blind? Maybe just not for intl students…

@oceanbeach7 My understanding with NYU is that it does not really matter, only about a 1% difference. Some schools it’s a much bigger spread - 20% or so. Do not apply ED if you cannot commit!

@Fishnlines29 cool thanks so much!

Hi everyone, I applied ED to Gallatin, hopefully to make a major with Criminology, Chinese, Creative writing… I know it’s kinda whacky but I’m pretty excited (and stressed out)

SAT: 1380
720 R/W
660 Math
(im retaking this in Nov cause I missed the Oct deadline whoops. Almost makes no difference now but whatever
WGPA 3.91

Hey guys! I applied ED to the Film and Television program at Tisch. Any others?

I don’t believe you have to submit SAT2 scores when you take the ACT…but I know a lot of things have changed…but check with admissions…I believe the ACT with a 33 or better should suffice…

Weighted=4.15
UW=3.9
ACT=29
Superscore=30

AP Calc AB, AP Stats, AP Econ, AP Psychology, are the AP’s I’ve taken/taking right now.

Couple honors classes over the years as well.

Extracurriculars:
-work at TGI Fridays
-worker at Panera
-President of Business Club at my school
-United States national Futsal Team for my age
-French Club
-Model UN member
-good community service hours
-People of all cultures member
-Varsity soccer 3 years

  • Club Team captian for Cincinnati United Premier Gold
    -freshman honor society at my school
  • High Honor Roll

Can someone chance me for Stern or CAS? I applied ED!

Hello, does anyone here know if SATII scores (Subject Tests) are required when applying? According to NYU’s website, their “flexible testing policy” also allows for options like SAT I, 3 AP Exams, or IB diploma, saying that only submission of one of all the options is required. I’m thinking of just submitting my SAT I score.
However, I’m still confused because I’ve seen people post both ACT/SAT I and SATII here on the discussions. So, are they required?

@IMAWIZARD No, the information is on their website:
https://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/how-to-apply/all-freshmen-applicants/standardized-tests.html

@iliasboujlil, based on my experience, stronger weighted GPA…stronger ACT minimum to be competitive 32 or higher

strong community service and something that sets you apart from others. For CAS, cannot speak for STERN

So it looks like I won’t be applying ED II to NYU, got accepted to my first choice ED I! Good luck to all and trust in the process, you are ALL going to go to be just fine!

NYU is need blind except for international students. It says on their website that whatever you are awarded as a freshman is what renews so you pretty much have to apply for financial aid or you are locked out of scholarships for the entire four years.

So I a few days ago applied ED at NYU and it’s really hitting me based on seeing everyone else’s stats and etc that I have a slim chance of getting in. I do have a cousin who got accepted around April of this year at NYU after being deferred from ED last year and it’s really making me nervous about the whole thing. I also just applied to Penn State and I’ll be applying to Yale sometime soon after I send off my high school transcript. I am OOS so I know some may wonder if I’m applying to any schools in state which I’m debating on Augusta University or UGA, but I do love AUs cellular and molecular biology program. I’m hoping to major in biology, or in other schools cell & molecular biology. I have a big interest in medicine and aim to further my education further down the line to be involved with research or anything I find a passion for. I do wish everyone in the application pool this year the greatest of luck, and I just thought I’d share my part and get some input on this whole process.
My stats currently:

SAT: (taken twice) Junior year I scored a 2000 on the old SAT not sure how that’s converted to the new SAT, but I just got my new scores after taking them again recently and got a 1540. 760 Reading and Writing and a 780 Math.
ACT: (taken twice) junior year I scored a 31 the first time, which I was happy about because it was my first time taking a standardized test before and I was getting a gist of what both tests felt like, and my test from September a 33, but with writing this time.
GPA: 3.935 weighed // 3.753 unweighted
Rank: 11 of 287
Other stats:
I took 5 subject tests. Biology M with a 780 and E with a 740. Spanish with a 790. Math level 1 with a 750 and chemistry with a 670.
I took 8 AP classes and only 2 honors courses.
I scored a 3 on the AP Chem test. A 4 in Calculus, English & Comp and British lit, and a 5 in biology, Spanish, US history and stats. Which I’m sure I’ll be able to send to these schools as well if I’m correct.

Location/Person: Atlanta, Ga.
State or Country: Georgia.
School Type: Public, small.
Ethnicity: Hispanic/Latina.
Gender: Female.

@KDC182 not sure why you think your chance are slim, you are well within required stats for NYU.

Of those accepted, here is where their stats fall:

3.00-3.24: 10%
3.25-3.49: 23%
3.50-3.74: 34%

3.75-4.00: 29%

Reading
500-599: 15%
600-699: 52%
700-800: 32%

Math
500-599: 12%
600-699: 43%
700-800: 44%

Applied before Halloween and beginning to get antsy. 32 SuperScore on ACT with a 36 in English. Best composite 31.
Current courseload: AP Music Theory, AP Stats, IB Psych HL, IB English HL, IB/AP Enviro, AP Gov, AP Micro, AP Macro (next semester), Honors US History, Honors Women’s Chorus, and TV Production.

I’m super excited, but terrified. It’s my dream, CAS for Politics or Steinhardt’s MCC program.

So there;s that myth about the FA Change possibly being a positive sign… well mine flickered to having that change today! Not celebrating, but relaxing and having hope. Anyone else have it yet? Best of luck guys :slight_smile:
