Early Decision 1 candidates found out yesterday and seeing everyone's ecstatic posts is making the waiting process for my ED II notification all the more unbearable. In the meantime however, I plan to stalk the NYU Class of 2018 page avidly (no shame) and anticipate the day I may be able to post on the group myself.

2 months and 1 day, ED II ers, until we come to terms with our fate. Hang in there.

How do you think your stats are? Im like paranoid af

I’m applying as a BFA Acting major to Tisch. I think my stats are pretty good actually!

Three-page resume of extracurriculars (theatre as well as school related), 3.86 Cumulative, 2010 SAT, and pretty qualified recommenders.

Also did the NYU Tisch Pre-college program for 6 college credits last summer, so I’m hoping that my prior affiliation with the university gives me a little boost.

Regardless, I’m equally paranoid af.

I submitted a resume too but i thought you have to keep it limited to one page because of the attention span of the reader. and i did a summer program too for precollege!!! I’m hoping that gives me a boost too because i also became an ambassador for it.

And yea my superstore I’m hoping to be a 2300+ but don’t know yet, and got 2 recommendations during my time at precollege.

but my gap is low because of freshman and sophomore year so same paranoid af.

I believe they said two pages, so I just sent an additional supplement doc. listing just my volunteer and service related experience. But I know for a fact that NYU does a good job of considering all criteria in your applications. I have several friends who are first year students now that had either a low GPA or a low SAT score.

It’s the personal statement that gets them I think. That’s why I spent like 5783084621 hours on mine haha.

Wish I applied ED 1 so I wouldn’t have to endure this agonizing anticipation, but I needed the extra time.

hahah same here! but i just wanted to take the sat one more time and my senior year grades. Stern is like impossible to get into

but hows your portfolio for Tisch??

You’re so right. Stern is crazy competitive. But I hope you get in! I just wouldn’t stand a chance. But with Tisch, I feel they are more lenient with grades and scores, focusing more on actually ability and artistic talent.

And I’m applying to the Acting program which doesn’t necessarily ask for a portfolio such as the Film or Dramatic Writing program would. We just have to prepare two monologues, headshots, and a resume for the audition in January.

Yea. Hopefully they overlook a few grades! How are those materials coming along? I hope you get in!

What’d you write your essay about? I feel like thats the only part you get to show who you actually are

They’re coming along quite swimmingly actually haha. Just practicing over and over again until my pieces become second nature.

And my essay was written in prose form where I incorporated the importance of NYC to my craft and the impact I plan to make as an NYU student. Also discussed my biggest failures and how they have helped me grow tremendously, using examples of historical figures in society. I tried to make it really mind-opening. Also incorporated a bit of wit at times haha. Hope they appreciate my sense of humor.

hopefully it will all work out! This wait is going to be horrible tho!

No doubt about it. All in this together though! Let’s stay strong.
