NYU ED1 Discussion Thread

I don’t see many kids applying to LSP though.

Did you guys get your SAT scores today? Mine came.

Improved from a 2010 to a 2170. Sooooo happy.

That’s an awesome improvement! I only took the SATs and ACTs once…

Oh, and about LSP, wasn’t there the option on the supplement page where if they don’t see you fit for your school of choice, would you like to be considered for LSP? Did you guys check “yes” for that?

Yeah, of course. I’d rather be in LSP than not in NYU at all. :P

I just got 2170 for SATs… I was hoping for 2200+ though… do you guys think I still have a good shot at Stern? I’m Canadian by the way, so I’m not sure if that raises the bars a bit… I’m also a diploma IB student, and I’m sending in my predicted IB scores as well, which should be around 40/45 (~top 5% internationally). Should I send in my SATs or not…?

Mid 50 Stern: 1400-1500 CR+M

Alright, just got scores back, 2070 on SAT (second time):
780 Math
640 CR
650 Writing

still 3.2 UW, 3.35 W, still Asian, still have backing with swimming. Anyone got an idea of chances? CAS econ+comp sci

Ok, wow, totally freaking out here. So I’m probably gonna get straight up rejected but you won’t know until you try, right?

Steinhardt: Music Business
GPA: 3.4
SAT: 1710 stab
AP’s: Physics, stat. At my school they’re not offered until junior year and even then only AP euro is offered. I could’ve done a few more senior year but my goal isn’t to die a painful death.
Honors: everything else
EC’s: Lacrosse (V) - 4 years, tennis (JV) - 4 years, volleyball (JV) - 2 years, Japanese (3 years), Korean (1 year), theatre production (4 years), Japanese club president (4 years), Music club (2 years), performing arts board (3 years), rock band (4 years), hip-hop dance (3 years), secret ninja training (life) :P

I’ve scored a bunch of films for people at my school and have gotten my compositions played by the school orchestra, choir, and an ensamble over the summer at the Cleveland Institute of Music. I promote my own band. We get a lot of gigs so I guess I’m doing an ok job.

Piano - 13 years
Guitar - 5 years

Essays: pretty rockin imo
High school: private

So yea, looking pretty grim. But at least I’m black. Does that still count for anything? XD
I hail from Philly.
Oh, and I can shoot laser beams out of my eyes AND out of my nostrils. Reject THAT.

Have you guys submitted your apps? If not, when are you going to?

I’m thinking of submitting mine on the 30th. Do any of you know if they pay attention to what date you send it on?

Just submitted my app. So scared. NYU is my dreammmmmm school. :frowning: i rly rly hope get in.

NYU CAS ED1

Gpa: 3.8 unweighted 4.27 weighted ( my weighted GPA is low bcz I was not in USA during my freshman year and my school didnt weigh them)
SAT: 2130. Math 760 WR: 750 CR: 620
4 honor societies, 2 jobs, 1 internship. pretty good extra curriculars.
Great teacher recs. Essay is okay. not too great.

You’re probably in, Alisha. Both your GPA and SAT are above the CAS averages!

Just sent in my application today, and I just wanted to say good luck to everyone. :D

I went to the open house today…cool stuff :)

I sent in my app about 3 weeks ago, but my school mails the school forms (and recommendations) instead of doing it online and I’m still waiting for that to say “completed” on the common app website…

Ok, so I’m totally freaking out now. I went to the open house for the Gallatin School of Individualized study and I more than met the requirements they listed there. However, now I’m reading over everyone else’s qualifications and I’m feeling kinda out of my league. Do you think I’m a good fit for Gallatin??? x_x

GPA: 97.6 weighted 92.7 unweighted
SAT: 1980 CR=660 Math=650 Writing=670
Extracurriculars: Oceanic Protective Society, Art Club, Bowling, Basketball, Track, Friends United Blacks United, Hispanic Friends, Gaming Club, Stage Crew
Volunteering: Alzheimer’s Foundation, Surfrider, Rotary

That stuff plus multiple jobs and attempting to take care of my family at the same time (I’m like, co-mom because my mother is a widow).

I’m hoping that maybe the fact that I go to Staten Island Tech will look good? haha? [:>

You’re in. SAT is in mid 50, GPA is above average.

On this forum, a 2250 and a 3.8 is “bad” for a lot of schools. You’ll often see the elites here. Don’t let it get to you, because NYU doesn’t accept students solely from this forum.

Thank goodness. lol technically my grades are “bad” for my school as well. My confidence has returned . . . slightly. XD

Are you guys worried about the cost at all?

is anyone here applying to NYU Abu Dhabi???

Thank you eljamas   what other schools are you guys applying to?

@TheEllister2007 I was afraid of the price from Freshman to my Junior year. And then last month, my parents told me that they had saved up from my fifth birthday till today, covering all costs. So that was a pleasant surprise. But if I do get in, I still plan on commuting after the first year to save money because I still have a younger sister who has yet to go to college. But yeah, despite all this, the price is still daunting.
