So did any EDI kids get the housing info yet? I'm starting to panic, just a little, because RD decisions have been sent out and I really want first pick at housing! :(

Same here with the panicking! Supposedly we’re supposed to get some e-mail with instructions soon-ish? It says so if you follow the link under NYU Life in the NYU portal thingy. But no exact dates yet I’m thinking early April/end of this month, because it wasn’t until very late in January that I got a receipt for the deposit – meaning it takes them about about 2 weeks from posted deadlines to process things – and ED2’s deadline was on March 15 (all EDs get same priority).

This wait is awful!
I feel like I’ve missed something because I haven’t done anything NYU-related since paying the deposit in December! Hopefully, by the end of next week it will all come. Fingers and toes crossed!!!

Hey Audrey

I have been reading up on housing options and even though weinstein has the most dining options hayden is sounding better in terms of living conditions. Also Founders seems to be best in terms of roomsize and also being a new building. Just curious what are the options you are looking at?

My daughter got her deposit receipt confirmation yesterday. We had sent the deposit on 15 feb. She was accepted in ED-II.

Thanks and take care.

Whoa, NYU ED Students,

Do not worry. Housing takes awhile and you definitely will be given the housing application to fill out before the RD students. This is the perk you get for committing yourselves “fully” to NYU. :)

It also felt late for RD students last year because assignments to RD students were not provided until August (maybe July, a little fuzzy for me now). But you definitely get assigned before this. I am fairly certain you have good shots for your choices given your priority status, unless all EDs ask for the same thing (doubt it). So hakuna matata!

Hi anialways - My first choice is Hayden and second is Founders (Founders is quite far from lots of the NYU buildings, and I don’t think I would fancy a long walk to class in the icy NYC winters). With the assumption that your daughter is a little bit of a princess like me, avoid Weinstein, Rubin and Brittany! Rubin and Brittany aren’t air-conditioned, and Weinstein is very very tiny and jail-like. Glad to hear that your daughter’s deposit receipt has come!! I’ll PM you with all the info that I know about dining/meal plans etc. :)

Hi evolving - As always, you make me feel spans better! I just got a little freaked out because some EDI kid posted on NYU’s Class of 2015 FaceBook page claiming to have already received his housing info. I just want to get all the housing, health and visa formalities over and done with, because I am just so EXCITED to go! :)

Founders is not that far. It’s a 12 minute walk tops. Even if you are a princess, you’re not going to complain about a 15 block walk, that’s nothing, once you get used to the city you won’t even notice it.

Hey Audrey and hellodocks

I agree with both of you, in terms of looking for comfort and 10- 15 minutes walk. But my point here is that if one has a choice ,then it makes practical sense to choose Hayden for distance and dining option and to top it living comfort. Having said that i am pretty sure the girls will rough it out ,because that is part of growing up.

Am kinda enjoying this , keeping my daughter posted with all the developments but this can be addictive and she is getting ready for May exams. She is enjoying the interaction as a bystander.

You guys take care.

Yep. Simply making the point that it’s far too easy to ‘stereotype’ a dorm and you really ought to keep your options (and your mind) open until you even get onto campus. It’s not a 100% rosy picture, I know kids who were unhappy at Hayden while tons were happy at Founders, despite popular belief.

Hey Guys

This one is slowly turning out to be like college decisions. Only "rejected’ from a college of your choice was followed with lot of heartbreak but here, the dorm decision, whichever or whatever, would be easy to ‘live’ with.

Take care.

Hey I just saw this update on NYU site, I am kind of confused so when is the housing deposit due May 1 or June 1. If anyone can figure this one ,both deadlines are asking for $1000 housing deposit or what…

By May 1

Reserve your place in the freshman class! Candidate’s Reply Form and tuition/housing deposit deadline

June 1

Online housing application due—housing reservation payment ($1,000) due

Thanks to the one who can help me.

Not to be a ■■■■■, but can you guys post some of your stats? I’m really curious, I applied ED I!
