hi, I was just wondering if anyone has finished submitting the form for NYU housing. It is not too late to decide now right because I have heard we get to pick ours dorm first. Once the RD people come, we won't be able to pick our first choice dorm.

vector - how did you submit your housing application? D sent in her deposit but has not received any further instructions.

Housing forms aren't supposed to be available until late march.

MTgrlsmom: did you daughter get her NYU email yet? If not, she needs to get on it ASAP because the housing selection forms are on NYUHome. Getting her NetID should be an easy process, I think you just needed name, ID number on your acceptance letter or social security number and I think that was it. Maybe date of birth. I think I used my social security number because my ID number wasn't working for whatever reason. Last year, housing was available on March 19th for freshmen. The housing office is busy taking care of us returning students for housing so they should be available in about 2-3 weeks. The deposit should have been credited to her account by now. You can check that on Albert, which can be accessed through NYUHome, for which she needs her NetID.

You get your assignment in early august by the way.

Wow, given my serious sleep deprivation, I'm surprised I typed out such a coherent message.

oh I see, I just heard from People that they already filled out their housing form at in some other universities such as UF. But thanks for the info anyways.

futurenyustudent - yes, yes, yes she has her NYU email and is really excited :). However, she can't do too much with it yet, 'cuz freshman housing applications for fall 2008 don't seem to be up yet. She has been "all over it", because she has 3 friends lined up who would like to share a place in UHall.

That's why I jumped all over vector's message :D.

Thanks so much - I will just tell her "keep checkin".....

MTgrlsmom-remind your daughter that the roommate request between ALL FOUR people have to all be mutual-that is, your daughter and the other three people ALL have to request each other for the request to be granted. If person A, B, C, and D want to room together, A has to request BCD, B has to request ACD, and C has to request ABD and D has to request ABC. I guess you get the point. :D

congratulations on your daughter's acceptance btw. :)

Weinstein wooohoooooo!.. Although.. I still don't know whether I wanna go to U-hall or Weinstein... futurenyustudent, how's weinstein if u know anything about it?

When was your daughter's email set up? Did they send a form in the mail (and if so when)? I have only received a notice of congratulations and to keep my grades decent.

To set up your email, there's a site you can go to. I don't remember where it is, so if you can't find it, worst case, you have to call ITS during their hours.

I don't know much about Weinstein other than that it looks kind of like a prison (typical cinderblock type rooms) and has a pretty nice cafeteria. Very close to classes though.

Ewwwwww Weinstein...

hahahahaha

I'm leaning more towards traditional style, but I'm torn between all of them because I'm not sure if lack of AC will be a problem or not. Hayden is also nice (has the AC), but I don't know if I want to live in a party dorm or not...and Weinstein is generally a no for various reasons that have been covered in other posts.

So what is the process of getting a roomate? I am new to this. Do you type the name of the person from the masterlist to be your roomate or a survey? Moreover, what if you changed your mind after 1 week living with that roomate, do you still be able to change?

Believ3 - My D did a summer program at NYU and it turns out they keep the same email addresses. But as futurenyustudent describes it is pretty easy to set up.

Futurenyustudent - :) thank you, my D is very excited and would move into the dorms tomorrow if she could...
