NYU/Emory Transfer chances

My first semester of college I attended a state college. After that I transferred to University of Colorado at Boulder. From first semester to second my GPA raised significantly. I hope to transfer to NYU or Emory within the next year. My current stats are:

First Semester: Metropolitan State College of Denver
GPA: 1.67
Major: Biology
College Algebra/Biology/Interpersonal Communication

Second Semester: University of Colorado
GPA: 3.4
Major: Biochemistry
Extracurricular:
Student Association of Prehealth Proffesionals
Biochemistry/Chemistry Club
Amnesty International
Classes: Introductory Chemistry/Precalculus/Introduction to Ethics/Introduction to Economics

I have letters of recommendation from 2 Professors, as well as my academic advisor.

I am hoping that the schools will look at my academic growth in the past semester. I recieved a GED from high school because of illness and was unprepared for college during my first semester. What are my chances of acceptance into NYU College of Arts and Sciences or Emory University, Emory College of Arts and Sciences.

Any replies would be greatly appreiciated, advice would be great!
Thanks!

Difficult but worth of try.
As you already read in both Emory and NYu website, students who have range from A- to A average are in the competitive pool.....(GPA 1.67 is too low. Is it out of 2.0 or something?) But your GPA was increased significantly from first semester.... that's a good sign..

Well.. good luck!
