I honestly think it just means they read them and send out the decisions on a rolling basis in the sense that there’s no fixed date…you could hear back literally any time, although they seem to go by school. They probably randomize the applications within each school. The school order, just piecing together the old patterns looking at previous years’ threads is usually like CAS, Tisch/Gallatin, Steinhardt, Stern? (Or maybe Gallatin and Tisch are switched idk) There’s always variation though, sometimes CAS people are waiting just as long as everyone else
At now, materials are complete, but I cannot activate my NYU NetID in the login. Does that mean the admission committee has not started accessing and reviewing my apps yet?
@CooperJuniorI I had the same problem on the day I received my NetID. It should work after a couple of days. If I were u, I will email the office just in case.
Anyone here applied for Stern?
@owenrider i did
Does anyone know when Tisch students are supposed to hear back? I applied as a Cinema Studies major and had to submit a portfolio so I assumed it takes longer than other schools but idk??
@hershey789 Have applied for other schools? What I heard is that NYU Stern don’t really want transfer from outside. Since I want to do banking, I also applied for UPenn and Columbia.
@owenrider I applied to UMD Smith School of Business, U Richmond Robins (just got accepted) and Georgetown McDonough. I heard the same thing about about Stern also. They only accept 0-25 people so the chances are low because they give all their spots to their current students and those current students have the fight for like the very few seats they have open, no one wants to drop out of NYU! I am also trying to go to the investment banking route. What are your stats/where are you transferring from?
I am transferring from USC. I have 4.0 GPA so far for college and 4.2 weighted for high school. My SAT is 2200. SAT Math II 800, SAT Physics 800 and SAT Chemistry 760.
@hershey789 the USC in Los Angeles
transfer applications are under review. As with most private universities we will most likely not hear back until May. I know, it sucks. If you hear sooner than you are quite lucky.
The reason why transfers hear back so late in the game is because unlike freshmen there are no gaurenteed amount of seats. We get a seat when a student who is enrolled either drops out, fails out, or transfers. So colleges do not always know what will happen until the end of their own semester.
The better the college (high graduation and retention) statistics the fewer seats. For example last year Stanford accepted 8 transfers!! If you get on the wait list it can mean either the college will wait to see if other transfer students accept their admissions offer, or if an already enrolled student drops out last minute. It is sad to think our gain is another student’s failure.
If you get accepted early it means that department knew ahead of time that it would have vacant seats to fill (perhaps a student failed by midterms.)
good luck everyone!
When you guys log in the Albert, there is a mid-year report requirement for freshman on the main page. But there is not a checkbox for midterm report under application status. I think NYU should notify freshmen applicant about that at this point. II haven’t heard anything from NYU. even about missing material. Does it mean I got rejected? My midterm report doesn’t look very though so I’m not sure if I should submit it . I’m also worried that I would get rejected because of missing material if I don’t submit it. Anyone has any ideas? I’m so stressful right now T^T
I received an email from an admissions counselor yesterday requesting my midterm grades. So I think they contact you if they need it
@yyyyyyyy same here I worry if that’s an indication of reject…
@yyyyyyyy like @ice101cream I also received an email asking for missing items, but I do not think it is indicitive of being out if you have not received it. They have many applicants and we have no idea of their process.
I would strongly recommend sending the midterm document. If you do not submit everything that can be a cause for rejection and you never know, perhaps for the major you are a strong transfer applicant!
If you do not get accepted there is always next year. Honestly, to have the opportunity to submit nothing from high school, midterm report, or the sats after completing 24 units is of huge benefit for many transfers.
Plus you don’t really take classes for your major until junior year once gen ed classes are completed; so if you can complete those somewhere else for much less money that is a perk!
Good luck! I hope you gain acceptance this year
@muffinpoptarte when did you receive the email that they ask you for mid term report? I did not receive the email for asking me any missing documents, and I did not submit the mid term report as well Was it after the deadline or before the deadline? I am really super anxious about whether I’ve missed anything for them. Or not everyone is required to submit mid term report? Unless they really need it from certain applicants so they send you an email?
Did you guys find that it took a while for Albert to indicate they received you transcripts? Mine isn’t checked off but I sent them back in February. my schools charges $5 per transcript so I really don’t want to send them again if don’t need to loll
@kfellysnena I sent my college transcripts in late February, it has already checked off once I received my Albert account. But my high school transcript section still hasn’t check off
@waffle111 I am looking at my email now, it was sent March 29th. I completed 60 transferable units so they were not asking for my midterm report; they wanted to other items from me. One item they requested from me was unusual, it was a letter explaining why I did not go to college immediately after high school. It is possible that I only received a reminder about one of the forms because they already needed to make this special request. I honestly would go ahead and send them anything they asked for. Decisions will be made this month, I am so nervous!
When I was not sure about something (the college report) I called and they were very kind on the phone and let me know I needed to send it. If it would put you more at ease I would recommend doing that.
@kfellysnena you can call and ask them, it is possible that they were just not checked off. If they did not make it for some reason, I would ask to speak with someone at your school because they are not sending it to a new school, they are just resending them so perhaps they can do so for a discount or something.
