*NYU Fall 2018 Transfer Thread*

@nyu2018transfer and @way2stressed0ut Thank you! I applied for Applied Psychology at Steinhardt too. If I decide to go to NYU, we should link up at our orientation. And my stats are not that great, but I will leave them down below. I actually got accepted to NYU before, but I had to take the semester off for personal reasons and I reapplied again. I have strong writing skills, and I believe it helped me on my writing supplements.

Demographic (I talked about my backgrounds on my writing supplements and related them to my career goals)

  • Latinx, LGBTQ, ESL student of color
  • Low income student
  • Emigrated to the US at the age of 14
  • Non-native English speaker (learned it the hard way)
  • NYC Resident

HS stats

  • 77 in scale of a 100 (we had no GPA)
  • No extracurriculars
  • No SATs or ACTs (was not thinking of going to college at the time because I did not speak English very well)

College stats

  • Attended a CUNY community college
  • 63 credits
  • GPA: 3.59
  • Honors Scholar (took some writing intensive and honor courses)
  • PTK member
  • College Discovery member
  • CUNY Language Immersion Program (I was in this program for a year at this community college before taking college classes to improve my academic and English skills)

ECs

  • Health Education Internship on HIV (created assessments, brochures etc)
  • Events & Marketing Internship (designed/updated websites and events and lots of other stuff)
  • Health Peer Recruiter at the New York Presbyterian Hospital (encouraged people to get tested for STIs)
  • First Year Seminar Peer Mentor (worked with incoming college freshmen to educate them about academic resources)
  • After-school tutor
  • CUNY LGBTQIA Student Leadership Program (did this for a year to make socio-political progress in regards to LGBTQ issues)

@nyu2018transfer and @way2stressed0ut ugh the College Confidential is not allowing me to post anything. I got a message stating that they are reviewing my posts, and hopefully they do not because multiple posts will be posted on this thread. I am annoyed lol.

Can anyone else log into https://orgsync.com/login/new-york-university ? I can and it shows all the clubs, events and stuff and lead me into NYU Home where I was able to look up the directory of all the students and see emails and stuff which seems REALLY weird to allow applicants to have access too. And I clicked on my profile and it says: Nothing to see here (yet!)
You do not yet have a Profile in NYU Home, but don’t worry, you will soon. You’re probably seeing this because you’re an incoming student who’s using NYU Home or an Alumni. We do not load profiles for students until they are matriculated. In case of Alumni, please continue to use Alumni information system (Advance). In the meantime, any NYU community member, like yourself, can use the Services and People tabs of NYU Home. If you’re not an incoming student or an Alumni, then you may be receiving this message in error. Please contact the NYU IT Service Desk.

And I’m really trying hard not to read anything into this but it’s really really strange.

@AnikaandAj I was able to

@AnikaandAj I’m able to log-in as well, but I don’t see that message you posted. Where do you see that? It just automatically logged me in when I pressed “log-in with NetID.”

Edit: Jk, right after replying I found it. However, I’ve had access to that for awhile now so I doubt it means anything :frowning:

I think last year we were able to log on as well but it wasn’t an indicator- sometimes you might think it is but it usually isn’t. Again, not trying to burst anyone’s bubble but we all just need to be prepared for anything with decisions

i can log in too

@mishk90 Were you one of the people who applied to Fall 2017? Because in that thread it seemed like there were sooo many signs for people who got accepted yet all of those signs have been available to us for quite awhile now. I really don’t think anything seems to be a tell-tale factor this year.

Okay just making sure. I just thought it was super weird they would let applicants view students’ emails and look them up.

I did apply in fall 2017, @niiniin

Maybe it means something, maybe it doesn’t- personally though, I just wouldn’t want to get myself excited just in case

@Sergozoria congratulations! when did you submit your app? I also applied to steinhardt, for mcc, and i am anxiously awaiting a response

Can’t sleep… don’t know how i’m gonna get through April waiting for my NYU decision… it’s my top : - (

Ha… made my NYU email and joined the investment analysis group for good luck and setting precedence  @AnikaandAj thanks for sharing the link!

@Sergozoria Congrats! What major did you apply for Steinhardt and what were your stats if you don’t mind sharing?

@blusoccerg Hey! I applied to Steinhardt MCC too! Do you mind sharing your stats?

I submitted my application all the way back in January but didn’t get my midterm grades in until this Monday. I received an email saying my admissions decision is ready to view but I can’t find the button that says “Admissions decision” once I click on applications status. Is anyone having this issue?

Not having that issue unfortunately, still haven’t gotten an email that says that…try logging onto Albert tho

@NathaliaNhem the NYU people told me that. I also hope they don’t focus on transcript that much!

@razoryanks25 @hope2018transfer congrats!
