NYU Finance vs. UT Austin Finance?

Hey Guys,

I was wondering which school had the better finance program along with a good business honors program?

Stern is very well represented on the street. I would choose Stern over UT.

Stern. Its in the heart of NYC. better yet, COLUMBIA! but seriously, Stern over UT anyday

For Finance and IB I would definitely go with Stern. Strong reputation on the Street, great BB representation and a good program overall. Austin is a good school for sure, but for Finance and IB, go with Stern and use the alumni network and its location to your advantage.

IBanker

Seems everyone is advocating for Stern. However, I feel this has a lot to do with where you want to begin your career. McCombs is a fantastic business school, and is even more fantastic in the South. In fact, being from Texas, many individuals look upon graduates from UT/Rice with as much if not more favor than schools from the northeast. Thus, if you are interested in working in finance in Texas (most likely Houston), where the competition will be much less fierce than in NY, I would definitely go to UT. However, the contrary of this is of course true, that in the Northeast and in NY, Stern is obviously a stronger choice.

Yea, Texas might be better if you want to work in Houston, but Stern for all the other major financial centers.

And Jeff Chiang definitely didn’t help out UT’s rep lmao
