I applied for my FAFSA a few months ago and just yesterday got the acceptance e-mail from NYU. Regardless of what happens (even if I have to graduate college buried in loans), I WILL go to NYU, but I was wandering how good a package you think they'd give me with an EFC 0. I got into the Tisch School of the Arts for Film.

Also, what is the deposit amount and due date. I'm just so eager to find all this out! Anybody else get their packet already? Please fill me in.

Packet waiting for you on Monday. Please let us know cause I am interested too.

Okay, got my packet! ^_^

They gave me $23,800 in grants and scholarships.
And $4,000 Work-Study Eligibility.
Then the rest ($30,300) in loans - $24,183 Direct PLUS Loan, $2,000 Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, $3,500 Direct Stafford.

So I’m covered!
Now, if only I could get enough grants and scholarships to eliminate the need for loans!

Did you guys get your financial aid package w/ your official acceptance letter? I did not.
NetPartner says that I cant login until May 1 (I am RD).
Were you guys ED or RD?

Sorry about late reply, but if it still helps yes I got it with my packet and I applied RD.

I guess other people are getting similar loan packages as me … I was accepted into the college of arts and science but I would have 30k in loans per year. Thats 120k in debt plus interest! Is NYU even worth that?

I just received my acceptance letter and I have an efc of O. However, I probably will not attend since the prospects of me getting decent aid are not good…

@BeckyJean “Thats 120k in debt plus interest! Is NYU even worth that?”
I think it really depends how hard you want to work in life… this is how I see it:
If you have a plan to repay all the debt, it is totally worth it. You’ll get a fantastic education, a great job (seeing even ANY NYU degree [not just stern] is fantastic), and a better chance at getting into a grad school of your choice.

For me: NYU is everything I want in a college. I could not imagine going anywhere else. So when I am asked “Is it worth it?!” Hell yes it is! There are people who have this much debt after college at NYU… and they make it. People work hard and cut other expenses for this education. We’ve worked our entire lives to go here. Follow your American dream and go for it. I’ll have about 100-120k after undergrad.

I just wanted to comment:

1-You get a great job because of your GRAD school. Not UNDER-GRAD
2-Where you attend college doesn’t matter when you apply for med school.

Many top unis undergrads got refused from all their med school choices.
