NYU Gallatin vs UMich LSA

Where does it say Michigan is $80,000??..nope, and if you live off-campus and buy your own food it becomes a lot cheaper. Our Houses - Inter-Cooperative Council at Ann Arbor Inter-Cooperative Council at Ann Arbor
So as a group, food is included. Truth on central and Black Elk or like $745/month with dinners and left overs included. No extras and starts and ends with the school year. Same with Northwoods 3 but just apartments and you buy your own food

As legendary as anything in New York.

But again, it’s not New York it’s a college campus. If you want New York night life then go to New York. If you want a school with 45 majors in the top ten then go to Michigan

It’s also important to understand that NY night life will be off-limits for most of the college years due to age restrictions.

Assuming you aren’t super rich or a socialite, the nightlife in Ann Arbor is probably going to be better. NYC has perhaps the best clubs in the world, but there are no (normal) college students going to them. If you are a guy, cover in NYC nightclubs runs you $40-50 just for entry on the absolute lowest end, and more likely something like $200-500 in cover and/or minimum spend (minimum spend means you are charged that much money up front, and need to run your tab up to that minimum amount, or greater - definitely not ideal to spend that much on your nights out as a junior/senior in college). Also, NYC clubs are very unlikely to have nights where they let in under 21, and are very strict against fake IDs (if that is a route you were thinking you would take). Ann Arbor has a fantastic college nightlife scene. House parties (these range from low-key social gatherings to absolutely wild events out of a movie), Greek Life events, Football Saturday tailgates (technically not “nightlife”, but in the same spirit: these can get pretty big and wild too), Rick’s (collegiate version of a nightclub), Skeep’s (bar w/ dancing), LIVE, Cantina, Charley’s, and a bunch of other spots. Most of the bars are 21+, but some have 18+ events, and a lot of stuff like house parties and tailgates can be accessible 18+. Keep in mind drinking is not permitted until age 21, of course.

Yikes! I actually had no idea it was that hard to get into clubbing in NY.

Oops. I think Michigan’s estimate was actually $70k. (Estimating Costs | Financial Aid | University of Michigan) Due to my AP credits, I’ll be paying upper-level tuition after one semester. I believe I heard the $80k figure for NYU somewhere around here. And, yeah, I think that living off-campus will eventually be the plan. However, I want to wait at least a year before doing that due to social reasons (>90% of Michigan freshman live in dorms, from what I’ve heard).

Okay thank you everyone. I’ve committed to Michigan!
