NYU GLS & Prehealth

Ok so i have a bunch of questions about GLS. Ive looked upon numerous forums on CC about GLS and on the NYU website but here are some questions that are still unanswered for me:

My first choice school was CAS and I intend to transfer at the end of sophomore year. Now the thing is GLS is a 4 year program, will everything ive done the past two years become "invalidated "because i did not finish the program?

I'm a bit confused about if LS and GLS are actually considered different/separate. I know LS is the 2 year program and GLS is the 4 year program-- is LS considered part of GLS then? Do all GLS students receive the associate's degree after completing 2 years?

Now comes questions about fulfilling prehealth requirements.

If I can only take one elective the first year, doesn’t that mean I fall behind in terms of classes I could be taking for prehealth? Apparently some people have to say an extra year since it is difficult to take all requirements (but I think this is only true if you stay in the GLS program for all 4 years?)

How manageable is it for prehealth students with the GLS program?

All I know is this program seems like a mess to me and a waste of time because I could be taking other classes and not have to worry about transferring schools if I go to another college. However, I think the program would be great since it expands my knowledge on liberal subjects, which I know very little in. Also, although the discussion-based seminar style classes lowkey intimidates me, it could help on communicating and speaking out in class.

I really want to go to NYU but getting into GLS is reallyyy holding me back.

I guess the biggest question I’m asking here is: what do you think, should it hold me back? Is it worth it?

I really need your help.

The first year of GLS and LS are identical and you can transfer into the two year LS program during your freshmen year!
I totally get the confusion, the website is hard to understand if you don’t have context.

In terms of prehealth, I know many people who are double majoring/minoring with the GLS major. The Gls curriculm leaves a lot of open space to take classes for other majors. When you get to NYU you will meet with you academic advisor and plan out a path to take the required classes.

Let me know if you have any more specific questions about LS and GLS! I started this year as an LS freshmen and transferred into the full GLS program.

LS is in no way secondary to CAS either, although it may feel that way as an accepted student.
