NYU HEOP Class of 2017 (2013)

that’s long lol

I was reviewing my financial aid package and there’s something I don’t quite understand. HEOP covers for most of tuition and expenses but it doesn’t state what comes out of my pocket. Althogether (including scholarships, grants, work/study, and loans) they are offering me $49,699 and without work/study and loans it’s $44,419. That being said I checked the Total Cost of Attendance and it says $49,992. I guess my only concern is that I wasn’t aware the NYU tuition went down. I thought NYU costs at LEAST $60,000 a year. So I guess i’m just trying to verify that the Total Cost of Attendance is the exact TOTAL cost of my first year in college, because if it so, and I accept work/study and loans I basically don’t have to pay for anything!!!

@duckuy1995 if you’re planning to dorm, that Total Cost probably doesn’t include the dorming cost because then its at most 60,000 dollars to attend NYU. If you live outside the 5 Burroughs they’ll help you pay to dorm

@lilmelonred I can’t remember but does NYU HEOP help pay for 85% of tuition or up to 85% ?

@miasiaNYU

Yeah, I’m dorming at NYU because I live outside the five boroughs. My financial aid package says that room and board costs $1,055 per semester which I found unusual. I guess the aid practically covers for everything!

If you are commuting, COA is around 50 K with books, supplies, transportation, personal expenses etc. If you dorm, COA is 60K… Tuition itself is around 44K-45K i think.

HEOP is suppose to cover MOST of your COA. maybe left with a few hundred on your own which you can do that by living frugally and saving money and you can do workstudy.

you have to calculate things on your FA on your own.

College is still business guys, HEOP or not but if you are HEOP they agree to pay most of the things for you and keep it very affordable but you still gotta contribute abit.

@lilmelonhead I’m just wondering because I still haven’t gotten my financial aid package yet and I don’t want to accept admission until I’m sure of what it is that I’m getting

@duckuy1995 Wow if it’s less than $2,000 to dorm that is great! We’re really lucky as are any other students that get accepted into HEOP

Also I got accepted into College of Arts and Sciences because at first I really wanted to do Clinical Psychology but now I want to do Stats and Accounting, do you think I’ll be allowed to switch academic programs?

According to the class of 2017 fb group, the tuition went up? o.o

I officially committed today. lol

@lilmelonred Congrats! I wanna commit but I still need to wait for my new Financial Aid Package :/

How much Financial Aid did you get?

I don’t know yet. I’m getting my HEOP FA package next week. I got admitted for regular before I requested HEOP and my aid is still very good with out HEOP.

@lilmelonred are you gonna dorm?

Nope. I’m commuting.

Congrats to everyone that was accepted! I can not wait until July to meet all of you and start my journey at NYU! For those concerned about housing costs HEOP covers the cost or at least most of it for the low cost triple options but you can opt for a more expensive room you will just have to pay the difference. Make sure you all fill out the housing app form be use that’s due May 1st and HEOP covers the $1000 housing deposit so don’t worry about that. CONGRATS NYU17!!!

When you accept admission does the term say Summer 2013 for everyone in the HEOP Program?

@miasiaNYU: It says that on mine.

@NYC2017 Thank you. Just making sure, I’m about to accept admission right now!

No problem :smiley: Congrats!

@NYC2017 Congrats to you too! Can’t wait to meet in July, I’m beyond excited
