Hi, if you got accepted to nyu through HEOP can you please tell me your stats? I really want to go there and just want to get a lot of my chest to know if I have a chance or not! Thank you !!! My stats
Gpa: 87
SATS:1590
Record: clean
Ec: some of them are just one year because I moved a lot !!
Essay: loved it at first but over time I started hating it … So not sure !!
Is this 1590 out of 2400 or 1600?
Also I don’t see you getting enough Finacial aid to actually afford NYU
Your GPA is rather low for NYU.
I know, that’s why I said HEOP. HEOP is for students who are academically and financially disadvantaged. @jman457
Hope we get in.
Hello,
I’m a current student at NYU under the HEOP program. In terms of your stats I can’t really vouch or give you a definite answer because it is all contingent on your application. The HEOP and CSTEP programs exist as a sort of back up for low income New York State students. Whatever school you apply to a NYU will evaluate your application, if they feel that you are not up to par with certain standards but fit the criteria of what their school wants and HEOP standards then it is likely that you will be admitted.
But like I said it really depends on how well you think you did on your application. Honestly I had terrible SAT scores, but a exceptionally high GPA and very strong application. I was accepted into my school but because of my low SAT scores and financial situation I was directed toward the HEOP program.
For me it has been a great experience, plus I get a decent amount of financial aid .
Good Luck!
@TheLeaderEssie would you mind sharing your stats and what school you are in?
That was very helpful, thank you! @TheLeaderEssie
I live in NYS and how do you Qualify for HEOP, because my family honestly doesn’t see it being that affordable. They make about 150,000 before taxes but last year was the first year they made 6 figures combine.
You’re not financially qualified, you can check it on http://heop.org
definitely not financially qualified. Even with 8 family members in a household still doesn’t exceed 6 figures.
Did you guys finish registering for financial aid yet?
Also, when will be the information sessions?
@savagescholar proper documents haven’t been provided for this year for me to start fafsa & from what I see, old ones started in February… Not sure if it’s the same every year.
OP: you’re a good HEOP candidate, but for NYU it’s very iffy. Did you apply to any other HEOP college? I hope you did. Also, you know that HEOP students at NYU have to commute from home and won’t get housing, right?
Can you apply HEOP to Fordham and Manhattan, and add Skidmore (another reach) plus Ithaca and Clarkson, perhaps St Lawrence? You’d have a better shot at those and they’re all terrific colleges.
@MYOS1634 Thank you so much, I wasn’t aware of the other schools!
Excellent :). Hurry because many of those have deadlines coming up!
Did you apply EOP to the SUNYs? I’d recommend Bing (larger, one of the University Centers), Geneseo (if you’re looking for a pretty town and a pretty “classical” campus with motivated classmates), and New Paltz (as an affordable safety for you with EOP, also in a nice town, not far from NYC.)
I applied Bing. Ugh. Waiting is a pain.
Thank you, & yes I applied to a couple! But I’ll definitely checkout the ones you recommended! @MYOS1634
@savagescholar tell me about
Good luck! Keep us updated!
