NYU: Leans to the Left, or Right?

<p>The admissions commitee wouldn't even care if you were a communist or facist. Political affiliation won't get you any edge at NYU, though the school is a bit left as it has a pretty big gay population.</p>

<p>I hope so....though with parents forking over $50k a year, likely not for very long.</p>

My concern is that I have a published essay that is a bit controversial.
I'm going to submit it, but I don't want to be denied admission because of the essay.
In the conclusion I call for a classless society.</p>

<p>NYU and New York City in general are considered to be liberal. If you have a published essay, you should send it to them for consideration; I highly doubt you would be rejected for political views. </p>

<p>If the writing is particularly good/unique, they may consider you to be an interesting applicant who deserves to be accepted. Since I don't know what the essay looks like, it's hard for me to determine whether this is the case.</p>

<p>Everyone's heard the expression, of course, "if you're not a democrat before the age of 30; you have no heart. if you're not a republican past the age of 40; you have no brain." Heh.</p>

<p>Bejeezus New York is so far left leaning that they even went so far as to have a boycott of Coca-Cola products on their campus because of their treatment of something or other....the administration there has taken some quite drastic steps in the left direction.</p>
