My son was recently accepted into both NYU's Liberal Studies and Global Liberal Studies Programs. Does anyone have any experience with either program? NYU is my son's "dream school," but even with a 30K scholarship and 3K work study, it is still beyond what we can comfortably afford. We are visiting this weekend in hopes of gaining insight to these programs and what they can offer, but I'd love hear some stories from parents with kids who were part of either program. Was it worth the money? What are you kids doing now? Will this open up more opportunities for my son than our more affordable state school can? Thanks in advance for any insight or advice you can offer!

I can’t speak from experience but my daughter was admitted into liberal studies core freshman year in London. After researching the program/minors/concentrations/etc and speaking with Beth Haymaker and others she has decided to go for her global liberal studies degree instead of switching back to CAS junior year. Her interests include working and living abroad, being multi lingual, writing. We are of the opinion that GLS will give her a great resume for when she graduates. In 4 years she will have a BA, will have studied two full years abroad including one with work experience, be fluent in at least one other language, and will have honed her writing skills in addition to being a critical thinker and problem solver with a worldview unusual in most US students. There are some on these boards who don’t see the value in this kind of degree but we believe that she is setting herself up for great success. Hope this helps! What did he decide to do?

My daughter is also at NYU London! We should connect. We love the program!

Hi Emtou2u-
My daughter is interested in the NYU London program also. Are you still living the program? We visited London last April and my daughter fell in love.

Hi Mom384-
Is you daughter studying in London for more than 1 academic year? If so, how does that work? My daughter would like to do all four years in London, if possible.
Thanks, KK
