I know it's getting kind of late but yeah I really need to figure out where I'm gonna be next year.

I want to study International Relations for sure and D.C. sounds like the perfect place to do it.
I got a $15,000 scholarship to GW - making it's total around 35,000.
I got a $7,500 schholarship to NYU - making it's total at around 39,000.

DC seems like the best place to study international relations at GW is really well know for it.

But at the same time I feel like NYU has so much better name recognition, which is especially important for law school.

NYU is more my flavor of people.. wayyy more liberal.. but it's fricken cold in NYC, and I know DC is cold too.. but not as cold as NYC. (i'm from texas).

"Go to GWU, there isnt much of a difference betwen GW int. relations and nyu"

Why tell him to go to GWU then? I think the largest reason why he's considering GWU is for their IR program.

Anyways, you will probably get a much better IR education at GWU. But if you plan to go to law school, what you study undergrad really doesnt matter THAT much, and NYU may have a better reputation for law school.

It's a tough decision. If both schools are equal to you, I would go with the money at GWU. But personally if I were in your situation, I would choose NYU. Good luck!

planning on grad school? if so, save every penny you own. aside from things like laundry and cooking, new students kind of need to master the art form of penny-pinching, especially if your student career is going to go beyond the undergraduate level.

unless of course, money isnt that big of an issue...i dont know your situation. if you would be just as happy at either i would say:

GWU if you wanna grad. school
NYU if you don't.

If you want to go to law school why go to either? Cheap in - state school with 4.0 and high LSAT will get you into any great law program and it will save you money.

thanks guys for your comments!!!
and thanks for being unbiased.. haha most of ya'll said i should go to gwu and this is the nyu board!

ryan.. i was also considering this as well. I am currently at the University of Houston in lieu of my senior year, which is arguably the greatest value for the very little you pay for it. I love it here too! The only problem is I want to come out of college smart. I don't want to just waste 4 years. I know if I stayed at UH I would probably be prepetually high. All the smartest individuals here are. They are bored because the classes aren't challenging them.. and they turn to constant partying and weed to even things out...

yeah i'm really scared about that!!
the snooty girls is the biggest turn off about GWU
i'm artsy and NYU seems a way better fit socially.
But I'm excited about living four blocks from the white house!!
