I'm choosing between NYU and UCSD for undergrad and hope to go to law school in the future. which college would be best?

i know that GPA and LSATS are the main factors in admission to law school... and some say it would be harder to get a high GPA at NYU than at UCSD... but would NYU be more impressive to law school?

i have to accept admission to one of these schools very soon and i would appreciate some input!

Both schools send a lot of graduates to law schools so it shouldn't matter where you go. Make sure you choose one that you will be happy at and study hard.

If you're a CA resident, bear cost in mind. If it's any factor for your family, then you're choosing between in-state tuition and one of the most expensive schools (in one of the most expensive areas) in the country. Law school frequently puts people into debt (even those who didn't need aid in undergrad), so if you're really torn, this should definitely have some sway.

Don't base your choice on where you think you'll get the better GPA. There are too many unknown factors, too many chances for you to change your mind about law school, and too much else that's more important. It's good to keep in mind, but if it's your big reason for leaning towards UCSD, then I'd let it go.

That said, there are three hundred recent threads asking "where should I go for undergrad: X or Y" and the consensus is generally: wherever you want (that's a dramatic but pretty reasonable summary).

Good luck, and congrats on getting to choose between two very good schools :)
