Hello, I'm planning to transfer to NYU-Poly from University of Toronto. I'm currently studying computer science (sophomore) with 3.00 GPA. I'll be applying for Winter/Fall 2013 to give myself time to up my GPA, make some money, and travel around. Since I'm in my sophomore year, they don't need my SAT scores. my extra curriculars are decent. Club webmaster, handful of volunteering engineering competitions/conferences, and I'm doing research on human computer interaction with my professor in the summer. I'll be applying to either Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

How are my odds?
Thanks!

I’d suggest you raise your GPA like you mentioned. If you’re going to go for computer engineering, try take as many of these classes at your school if you haven’t yet: calculus 1 and 2, multivariable calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, general physics 1, 2 (and 3 if your school splits it into 3 parts like Poly does), C++, data structures, computer architecture, circuits 1 and 2, discrete math, general chemistry, and calculus-based statistics/data analysis. For computer science, the physics sequence, circuits 1 and 2, general chemistry, differential equations, and multivariable calculus aren’t required, but you will have to take 3 science electives, so taking physics or chemistry will help anyway. Good luck.

I think your application might be pretty strong actually. Definitely not “weak” anyway

I’m leaning to CE more so I’ll be taking multivariable calc, linear algebra, and circuits next sem. And learn C++ as well.

Thanks for the feedback guys!
