Hey Jasmom! I'd love to meet up with you. Which performance are you seeing? We're seeing the matinee.

There's a chance I'll be there for the matinee as well but I'm not positive yet. Do you know your seat info, rossji?

Jasmom, AlwaysAMom, RossJi.... my husband and I are going to next Saturday's matinee as well. After all these years, I'd love to meet you all (RossJi and I met twice already, but still counting you). This will be my first NYU show. Saturday night, we are going to see our D perform with the N'Harmonics. Come see it if you can. She won't be going to Hair with us as she'll have already seen it and she will be in rehearsals on Saturday for her upcoming production. Let's get in touch this week.

Susan

HI ladies! My daughter has the tickets, so I don't know my seat numbers, but I'll ask her. As soon as I find out, I'll pm you all with seat numbers. We're actually going with one of my daughter's friends from American Girl Revue and her mother.

We are in row P seats 111 + 112 (husband and I). RossJi, I already know what you and your D look like :D. Jasmom and AlwaysAMom, hope to connect this week. Jasmom, break a leg wishes to your son. I'm not sure his part to know who he is. I know several kids in it from my D's singing group, so I can eliminate those and maybe a couple of others.

We have tickets for Sat evening performance (so I'll miss N'harmonics), but...
I'm flying in from a conference that morning (husband and daughter meeting me later) and just today considered catching the matinee as well. If so I'll look for you. (Mbright also has a son in the production, so she and I are hoping to put faces to screennames).

Would love to meet all of you if possible! :) What fun! I really hope I can manage to get down to the city next weekend but won't know for sure for a couple more days, unfortunately. I have another commitment which I'm attempting to get out of, due to being given the wrong dates for it initially. Long story, but I'm trying! Susan, my friend Linda will definitely be there, though, with another friend of hers. I'm sure she'd love to say hello to you as I think you two met through email when you assisted her in connecting with Jed. She was initially supposed to have dinner this week with Jed while she's in the city but he leaves Tuesday for the Asian tour and she arrives Wednesday, so they've postponed their dinner til January. Anyway, keep your fingers crossed that I'll be there enjoying Hair and not speaking at a (boring) conference for psychologists. :)

AlwaysAMom, if you think you can make it, let's be in touch so we make sure to meet at the show at Skirball. I have been remiss with personal emails as of late, please forgive me. I deal with emails all day and evening for work and after all of those, never seem to tackle personal emails. I will make sure to connect before the weekend. My in laws are arriving from out of state shortly and I have to clean the house!

Jasmom, let me know if you are going to be at the matinee and I hope we meet as well. I think I know the region where you are from. It so happens that my inlaws live in that area. We will drive there Friday night as it is part way to NYC, so that we can get into NYC in time for Saturday's matinee. We are going back to NYC again on Nov. 6 to see our daughter's production of Into the Woods.

I hope we all meet up finally. Would be fun. My daughter will not be with us at the performance. AlwaysAMom, will your D be with you? I'd love to meet her after all these years. I always enjoyed her posts way back when my D wasn't even yet applying to college. Jasmom, I'll have to find out which boy is your son before the show! Several of my D's friends are in it, but I wonder if I will recognized them now that they are bald. One boy she is friends with who is in N'Harmonics, who is in Hair, who also dates one of her apartment-mates, I saw when we moved our D in and I didn't reailze it was him at first with his hair cut extremely short in early Sept.! I look forward to seeing your son and the others in the show. I think my D is seeing it Wed. night.

Oh yes, and bring earplugs. this is, after all, a rock musical.

OK, my daughter yelled at me for posting personal info here, but I think it's safe! We'll be in seats D5-D13 for Hair. Hope to meet up with many of you! Come say hi!! I'll be sitting with my friend and her daughter and my 2 daughters. The one from CAP looks about 12; can't miss her. Ha ha. (or actually, it's EASY to miss her....)

RossiJ, AlwaysaMom and Soozievt,

I sure wish I was going to be out in NYC this weekend and attending the Mainstage Production of Hair with all of you. I look forward to hearing your comments on the production. I am sure it will be nothing less than spectacular.

My D has been cast in a play at Strasberg that will be sometime around November 1st and 2nd and also will be performing in a musical revue at Strasberg in December. We have chosen to go see her in the musical revue as she says it will be quite good and that is what she recommends we come to see. We are excited to see all of the students perform in this revue. Unfortunately we just couldn't justify coming out to see the Mainstage performance and her musical revue, too. We have already been out several times this past year and it does get expensive.

Jasmom, I can't wait to hear all about your son's performance in Hair. It has to be so exciting. I thought of him earlier in the fall as my D was called back twice for a Playwrights production. In the end I don't think she got the part, although it came down to her and two or three other actresses. It worked out well as it conflicted with her Strasberg play schedule. She was excited about the play, though, as it was another Red Riding Hood play, and she was auditioning for the grandmother's part. I read part of the the script; it was absolutely hysterical. The director was a student from Playwrights. I'm sure the world wouldn't be so small that it was your son, but I do remember thinking of him immediately when she said she had been called back on the audition and the play was to be directed by a Playwrights student.

Well, can't wait to hear about his performance in Hair. Hope you all had a great time.

Theatredivasmom

That's great that you'll get to see your daughter perform this year! Sorry you can't make the extra trip to see Hair, but I promise, we'll tell you all about it! If I didn't live 1 1/2 hours away, I wouldn't be seeing it, either!
What's the musical revue? Is it a particular show, or composer? Just curious. If it runs at about the same time as one of the other shows (Into the Woods, Evita, etc.) and it doesn't conflict, I might just check it out! If I have to rely on my daughter to tell me the dates, though, I'll miss them! She never told me about Last 5 Years until it was too late; Soozievt's daughter is roommates with one of the leads and I might have made the trip to see it (I LOVE the music in that show!) but alas, d never told me the dates!! Soozievt, I'm sure your d saw it; how was it??

Theaterdivasmom, it seems like your D is doing really well at Tisch and I have enjoyed the update. Two shows, wow. I'm glad you will get there to see one of them.

I have never seen any NYU shows yet. We are going this weekend mainly because of our daughter's concert performance on Saturday night with N'Harmonics (plus to see her for a tiny bit!) and it coordinates with being able to catch Hair that afternoon. Some of my D's friends from her singing group are in it and so for many reasons, I look forward to seeing the production. We will return to NYC on Nov. 6 to see our D's production of Into the Woods. We don't get to see her much on these trips but given that the only times in the past 10 months that she has been home were a week in Jan. and a few weeks in May/June, we get to see her when we go see her shows.

Rossji, tickets for ITW go on sale tonight, in case your D did not inform you. These things sell out very quickly.

In the Last Five Years, there was the main cast of two. However, they cast two understudies and gave them two performances of their own. The first one went so well, that the second cast got a third performance. Yes, my D's best college friend/roommate, who is also a girl with whom she has done theater with in our state since she was 9, was cast as Kathy in the "second cast". My D saw it and said that she was fantastic. I obviously have seen her on stage before, most recently when the two of them created and performed a musical cabaret in a city in our state this past June. This friend was excellent in that and my D said that she has even gotten better in Last Five Years (which makes sense with all the training these kids are getting, right??). Did your D see her in it? I know her parents were there this past weekend to see it. It's much farther for us, a six hour drive. This friend/roommate also lives an hour north of us.

(And when we can't see our kids too often, we can watch them on DVD, lol. I have on a performance right now in the background that my D is in along with lots of friends who now are at CCM, UMich, BOCO, Syracuse, Yale, CAP21, and Broadway, etc. I'll say I knew them when! One thing with a performing kid is that when they are away, you can still watch them on the TV or listen to them in the car.)

Hey Susan! Do you need tickets to N'Harmonics? NOt sure we can make it, but we might! What time and where is it? (you know I won't get any info from d, lol!) Glad you told me about ITW, but from my expert math calculations, isn't Nov 6 on a MONDAY?? ECHH!! Is that the only date? What's with the scheduling? I'd LOVE to see it, but Monday nights are TOUGH! In fact, my d is performing in the Carousel Cabaret with CAP21 alum and BOTH her performances are on A MONDAY... She'll be lucky if I travel there to see HER!! Lol. Maybe I'll see ITW if that's the only date, but my guess is I probably won't. Anyway, see ya on Saturday!!!! (and jasmom and hopefully alwaysamom and I think I left someone out....hmmm....)

RossJi, you do not need tickets in advance to see N'Harmonics. It will be crowded but if you get there in time, I don't think you will have a problem. I am not sure the location yet but the concert is at 9:30 PM Saturday night. Last year, the Oct. concert was in Kimmel. If you contact me before Friday afternoon, I shoud know the location. Your D can ask my D also. I just don't know it but she does.

The dates for Into the Woods (seven performances) are Nov. 6-11. It is just that WE are seeing it on Nov. 6 due in part to my hubby's days off, and also that we have to return to NYC, yet again, on Nov. 15 to fly out to visit our older D who is studying abroad in Italy and so seeing Into the Woods at the end of the run and then driving back down (six hours each way) to NYC a few days later, wasn't so hot. So, we'll be there opening night.

I know that the Sat. night of Nov. 11 was sold out in the PreSale. However, tonight, tickets to the other six performances go on sale. My guess is that if you intend to see it, you order tonight. It will sell out readily. Contact me if you want to know how to order them. I have to place an order for my D as she'll be in rehearsal tonight and also I believe later will also be at Hair.

See you Saturday at Hair.

TDM, Thanks for all those great thoughts. I'm glad you'll have a chance to see your daughter perform soon. I'd love to see more of the smaller productions occurring at Tisch/studios. There's just so much talent there. My s will direct something next semester (he begged off earlier this semester because of the intensity of the Hair commitment). Be sure to let us know how her production goes!

suzievt- where is ITW being performed? I haven't seen ANY info on it yet....I checked CAP21 & Skirball websites, but couldn't find anything..... I will also be at HAIR on Sat matinee, so maybe I will get to meet you too. I am more of a lurker here than poster, but I follow it all religiously! And by the way, my D LOVES her first year at CAP-21 and life in NYC!
Jashner

Jashner,
Into the Woods is a GAP production which is a Tisch Student Run Musical. I believe these are put on at the theater called The Shop at CAP21, a small theater. I don't know where there is any publicity online as I don't think there is any?

Email me right now if you see this because to order tix, you have to do so via email and I can't post email addresses on CC but orders began at 7 PM tonight and I don't know if all 7 shows sold out yet or not.

Also, if you email me, I would love to find out where you are sitting or how you may wish (along with Jasmom) to meet up. Just saying "I'll be there" isn't going to work, LOL! I know who RossJi is because we have met before. Skirball is a huge theater and we don't know what one another looks like. I hope we touch base before Friday.

I am delighted to hear that your D loves CAP so far. My D continues to love it immensely as well.

I think she is at Hair right now. So, I'll get the scoop at some point. Looking forward to seeing it and meeting you guys.

Susan

Susan
I sent you a private e-mail for ticket info. I only live 80 miles from NYU, so I try to get in there often (as often as my daughter will allow lol!). I would love to see your D perform, as I've read so many fantastic things about her!
I will be in the front row of "parterre" with my D and some friends from home (PA). Tickets are at will call, so not sure of seat numbers. I wrote down yours and rossji's info.
Jane

I saw your email and responded to it before I read the post just now and so sorry I asked where you were sitting and what not, since you mentioned those things in the post, I see. See you then.

PS, You mentioned seeing my D perform and I should clarify that with Into the Woods, she will not be ON stage but will be at the piano as she is the musical director. She'll be accompanying the show along with the musicians she has gotten. It's performing but just want to be clear she is not IN the show but has worked countless hours on the creative team. Playing the Sondheim score on piano also has taken lots of practice since before school began and is another kind of performance but may not be what you were thinking.

She is PERFORMING on stage in N'Harmonics, however (though is also Asst. Musical Director of that and arranges some of their songs).
