Margaret,
That was so sweet of you to write about the show and my daughter and I will definitely pass on your positive and kind words to her. It so happens that a student whom I am advising had her ED Tisch Audition yesterday and said that the faculty mentioned the ITW production to the auditionees and how good it was and how it was entirely student run. So, I am going to pass both sets of feedback to her because it is always affirming after working so hard on something, to hear how others viewed your work. My daughter loved working on ITW and put her heart and soul into it for months.

I am now remembering you a little bit from the forum but it has been a while. I figure so many of us on the forum's kids are going to cross paths at some point and indeed our girls have. My daughter actually worked on Full Monty last year playing keyboard and so would know your D from that. I did not have the fortune to see that production but heard it was great and I know some of the leads that were in it as they had gone to theater camp with my D and she had done shows with them in the past.

Your daughter was fabulous in ITW! She is also a beautiful girl and so she pulled off "evil" well considering she is so pretty herself. She did a great job portraying that character. In fact, I recall my D telling me that the girl who played the stepmother was "undercast" in the sense that she is so talented that the role did not get to truly reveal her talents to the full extent. I thought the show was wonderful and each person was very good. It appeared so perfectly cast too. Besides excellent singing voices, what struck me is how well each person could act. I also credit how the production team put it together and the challenge of staging it on such a SMALL stage! I wish they had a bigger theater space for the GAP shows. It is a shame how many people they have to turn away who cannot get in to see the shows, even with 8 performances.

I saw the show on opening night, Monday night. My daughter said that actually Wednesay and Thursday nights were the least best nights. As you must know, on Wednesday, the actor playing the Narrator fell ill and at the last minute, the director had to step in to play the part, having never rehearsed it himself. I give him loads of credit. While he directed the show, he has a musical theater background. He played Tony when my D was Anita in West Side Story during the summer of 2004. Also, as I am sure you have heard, at one of the weekend shows (I think it was the weekend, or near the end of the run), several cast members' wallets and cell phones were stolen from backstage and they learned of it just before the show began, a very tough situation. My D had her belongings by the piano. I feel badly for these kids and I hope your D was not one of them.

Thank your D for her nice comments about my daughter. Yes, my D is young but actually she turned 18 a month ago, during the rehearsal period, so she is no longer 17, finally. She is a sophomore in CAP21 and absolutely loves the program and is having a great time and learning lots. She learned a lot by musically directing ITW, as well as playing piano and conducting the orchestra for the show. Perhaps one day our girls will be on stage together. I know that my daughter thinks your D is very talented. From what I could tell in this role, she certainly is! The whole cast was great.

Thanks once again for posting and getting in touch.
