NYU RD Class of 2022

@gpastores14 I just wish I was born 50 years ago when college admissions wasn’t nearly impossible

@AcademiaSavvy Hahaha don’t we all? Allow me to go into a manifesto bc it’s just not the same nowadays. Honestly, the American education system is so stressful and it places a lot of pressure onto students and I’m not one that usually complains. Students are forced to perform in academics, score a 36, be leaders in twelve clubs, and have 1000 hours of volunteering! After eight hours of school, we get to rush to Student Council and plan prom. And then we go to three hours of lacrosse practice. And then we have a calc tutoring session. And then we have five hours of homework to do. How are we supposed to do all of this, maintain a social life, spend time with our families, have a part-time job, and get eight hours of sleep??? We are reduced to numbers, stats, and grades. I remember crying in the middle of my AP Calc BC class after hours of studying and getting less than a 50% on my midterm and thinking I wasn’t going to get into any selective universities. I’m realizing now that across the nation, Class of 2022 is incredibly competitive and it doesn’t help that a lot of schools are decreasing incoming class size and at the same time are getting record amounts of applicants. Not to mention how expensive some institutions are now. I love hearing stories from old people that are like “I was able to pay for all of law school by working at the local diner!” Who’s ready to drown in student debt y’all?? But I digress hahaha

someone on twitter asked nyu admissions when decisions would be released and they said “RD decisions will be released by April 1st! Sometimes they do come out a day or two early, but it’s unlikely they’ll be released any sooner than that.” so im thinking wed or thurs

I’m able to access and sign up for nyu housing. Does this mean anything??

@kuhlm44937 just want to say of all the wonderful people on this site you are one I truly hope and pray for good things. I lurk on here occasionally as my daughter is also waiting to hear from NYU and has had some disappointments along the way. Your continued hope and positivity towards others remind me of her and that’s the best compliment I can give. Wherever you end up, the school will be fortunate to have you. Please hang in there and good things will happen for you.

@Chieftain18 wow you just totally made my night, thank you so much!! Hope your daughter gets good news from NYU this week!

@kuhlm44937 ^^^ I have seen your posts on other forums and I really wish for the best for you. The college you eventually attend will be lucky to have you!!!

@camom13 thanks so much! :slight_smile:

Best bet for the earliest release is Thursday based on history. It seems unlikely that they’d release on Ivy Day or before. Wish it was sooner for you all, but it is almost over. Good luck!

Someone said there was a timer on the website to tuesday. Another person said his/her counselor heard from a rep that the target release is Wednesday. So it could be any day this week haha. Also rejection emails go out first right? - from about 1am ET onwards. So if decisions are coming out today we’ll know in a couple hours I guess?

How do you know rejection emails go out first?

@IlluminatiIsReal I thought it’s a widely known and accepted fact. You could look up previous threads.

Also this is the first article I could find that talks about it

https://nyulocal.com/breaking-down-the-college-confidential-myths-1e9e6ac1e7c5

(Scroll to the third last paragraph)

I did not apply for financial aid, and my financial aid page indicate that
There is no financial aid information found

Do anyone have a different status? According to the article above, am I likely to be denied?

Why should they give you aid when you didn’t ask for it?

@gpastores14 Yup, my grandfather was accepted to Columbia because he was the only at his HS one with straight A’s =((

@AND2018 SAME! I was really taken a back by my results this year. It has been a crazy ride and I cannot wait for it to be over

@vakilmohit actually NYU changed this some time ago. Rejections do not come out first. Each wave of decisions that come out are a mix of acceptances, waitlists, and rejections.

@cnc4599 ohhh I didn’t know that! Do you guys think decisions will come out today?

RD NYU… April 2

@beautifulchaos3 where did you see that?
