Original essays about personal growth, cultural background, and appreciation of community. I’d say they’re okay, but maybe it’s because I re-read them so many times.
I’m a little surprised, but I guess I overestimated myself in general when I was applying. Oh well.
Got in!!!
What is the core program? How does it compare to the normal acceptance of CAS?
@Scarsinstars Thank you, and I believe it’s only guaranteed if I maintain a 3.0 or above GPA, and only if my fafsa doesn’t change drastically.
@Agrarius it should be able to cover both depending on how you would like to allocate the funds. For instance, you may use half for tuition or half for housing, or all for tuition, etc. Congrats!
Got into Stern!
UMiami is AMAZING! You’re gonna have the time of your life… Miami is so awesome @AcademiaSavvy
I got waitlisted for Stern. I am from Chicago! Asian female, 1510 SAT 4.46 GPA slightly average EC’s
I think my common app essay was not very good but my NYU specific essay was pretty good. The college application process was pretty brutal to me this year, got rejected from a lot of schools including USC
I’m staying on the waitlist for Stern, but in the meantime I am committed to UIUC
@cookiemonster44 Chicago bound:(
@Kyther @lenasharb @strugglingteen07 I also applied to Nyush as alternate just for wtv out of it but didn’t expect to be actually considered and rejected from Nyuny…Someone in ED thread told me they emailed the NYU admissions office bc their daughter was in the same situation as us, getting in shanghai as an alternate choice and no info about nyc their primary choice, and the officers allegedly told them that since they are admitted to shanghai, it means that they are rejected from all other campuses and shanghai is their best fit. Never have I regretted so much for picking Shanghai .
rejected CAS 1320 SAT
Congrats to those accepted, and to everyone rejected, you will do AMAZING things at another institution!!! However, to those waitlisted like me, we are stuck in college admissions limbo and in the unlikely event that we get off the waitlist, we’re out of a deposit lol. I’ve been waitlisted at three other reach schools so quite frankly I’m very discouraged. I was just wondering if those accepted are going to attend NYU. I’m trying to gauge whether or not I should even still hope of getting into NYU considering it’s my first choice. I am emotionally fragile but I’m incredibly proud of all of you guys and what you have all accomplished. Wishing you all of the best in your future endeavors!!!
@Panda_juice Thank you for your reply. This is truly devastating. I thought that all decisions for the campuses were different. Does it indicate anywhere on the NYU website the true policy of how multiple campus decisions work? It doesn’t seem like a lot of people in the CC threads had this issue, so I didn’t think twice about applying to all the campuses. I feel like this issue/policy should be addressed more clearly on NYU’s website so that future applicants won’t make the same mistake I did. Given my stats, I should at least be wait listed at Stern, but I guess my fatal flaw is I didn’t have business related ECs. I am feeling so crushed rn… none of my college decisions have been positive and I was truly banking on Stern.
I know this is a bit taboo and sorry if anyone already mentioned this but…how are you all paying for this? I got full tuition but in loans – but my family can’t imagine taking out 76,000 per year in loans. When I called about appealing they said they don’t do that for incoming freshmen, and that my parents’ income is too high to receive a grant/ scholarship. I’m kind of shocked, so I am just wondering what the situation is for everyone else?
Ditto @lagurlll Let me know if you receive any good advice.
Do you know if the scholarship was merit based or need based? Or a combo of both?
@Kyther @Panda_juice Why do you think you guys were considered a “better fit” for Shanghai? Was it because of your race? ECs? I feel like it is because of my race and the fact that I took Mandarin all my high school years that they felt I would “fit” better at Shanghai, but it really isn’t what I wanted. It makes me wonder if I didn’t indicate my interest in other campuses whether or not my admission status at Stern right now would be completely different. Sorry for ranting but I am really disappointed in myself for not doing further research on NYU’s admission policies.
@panicatthepilot Do you know if the scholarship was merit or need based?
@lenasharb I applied RD to NYU stern as well… and I do not think I should have been rejected from stern either considering I got into other business schools, a perfecr act and gpa and val. I never read anywhere that it was a policy, and in the info session at NYU they said they only consider you if you are rejected. In my eyes I thought I would be rejected from stern first, and then later on I get another decision from Shanghai. But they gave me shanghai first, so it made me feel as if they only saw that we checked shanghai and since not many people do they just tossed our apps into the shanghai pile.
