Guys! Don’t wanna seem completely dumb, but where did you find deposits? A link would be appreciated. Maybe I just can’t see it from my tablet.
@IlluminatiIsReal yup, that’s standard and noted in prior years’ posts. Not an admission indicator.
Anyone know when RD came out last year? Could tell us when to expect decisions this year
No changes in portal this morning. Everything looks the same as it did yesterday. S has “Summer 2018” and “Academic Year 2018/2019” in the housing portal. S does not have “2019” in the FA portal.
BUT: IF PRIOR YEARS’ THREADS ARE TO BE RELIED ON, THE PRESENCE OR ABSENCE OF THESE CHANGES DOES NOT SEEM TO CORRELATE TO OUTCOME.
The only true indicator for NYU is the decision on decision day.
First Good Luck to everyone. From friends who were ED 1 and ED 2, one had a housing change and the other did not.
Both were accepted. Everyone I know who had a portal change was accepted. I also know many friends who go to NYU now who never had a housing change. So do not lose hope until you read your NYU official decision.
With over 75,000 applications this year, NYU’s overall acceptance rate is now around 24% but it really varies based on your major.
Stern is still the toughest with an acceptance rate under 10%. Ranked according to hardest to get into:
Stern < Tisch< CAS/Gallatin < Steinhardt < GSP < SCPS. Getting into any of these programs on the NYC campus is an amazing accomplishment.
Tisch and Steinhardt has accepted the world’s most talented group of young actors, writers and musicians every year. I have been bless to watch their performances every year growing up. Any program with an audition or portfolio, your creative talent will matter way more than your school stats. Though if two equally talented applicants try-out then their academic stats will be the tie-breaker. NYU actors, musicians and arts tend to be creatively talented and academic at the same time.
The waiting is still the hardest part.
@WaitingforGodot4 wait what do you mean by housing change?? Mine says fall 2018. Is that good or…?
Last year decisions came out on 3/30, a Thursday. So if I had to guess, it might be 3/29 this year or 3/30.
@aamlam where does it say fall 2018? I mean do you have that option when you go to the deposits tab or does it say that in https://housing.nyu.edu/apply?
@nonameleft Yes, at the link you posted. But see above the posts by @GiannaC3 and @waiting4godot2, who say there is no correlation between NYU’s housing/FA changes and decisions.
@Youngone4 is exactly right. Once I was given my credentials to login, the option to pay for a Fall 2018 housing deposit was always there. I never got an email about FA because I did my forms properly. Does that mean I’m rejected? No, not necessarily. (Probably though XD) The emails for FA are probably computer generated because their systems go through and search for those with incomplete applications, etc.
Therefore, there is NO CORRELATION between the portal, FA emails, and other miscellaneous emails from NYU and your admissions decision.
NYU did email me about not being able to match my CSS profile with my CommonApp though. Had to call them and provide all kinds of info before they were able to match em, cost so much since I’m an international xD Also I have to agree with @YoungOne4 and @MrElonMusk, I was checking the ED 2022 thread and SO many people who hadn’t had any changes got in!
@nonameleft I had exactly the same situation! After I told them my info, she was like we’ll be able to give right amount of financial aid if you get admitted and I got so nervous lolol
@asdfg12345xx my call got cut while they put me on hold during checking cause I ran out of balance and then I started panicking and it was around 1 am my time, I started banging on my parents’ door and called them again from the tnt xD I kept saying ‘u got it tho right’ xD
@nonameleft If you have got an internet connection, you can use Google to call anywhere in the USA for free. Of course, the data used will cost too but it will probably be less.
Two rejections in a row for me, today from USC, hoping the pattern doesn’t continue with NYU
@kuhlm44937 I got rejected by USC~
Hi, just found this found for NYU Tandon
http://engineering.nyu.edu/files/Fall%202017%20Census%20-%20Official%20Statistics.pdf.
The average SAT for Tandon was 1380 last year and I think 1370 for Mechanical Engineering (which I plan on majoring in if I get in). My SAT jis ust in that range, and I hope I get in! Good luck for the rest of you guys whom are applying to Tandon!!
Wait I’m a little confused… is it confirmed that people in last years thread who had the housing change (to be able to pay for fall 2018) were accepted? Or maybe people in ED 1 or 2?
@clowery from all the CC threads I’ve read I (and a lot of others) have come to the conclusion that none of the changes give you any hint as to whether you were accepted or not. The only sure way to know your admission decision is to just wait until decision day.
@IlluminatiIsReal hey thanks, I didn’t know that!
