NYU RD Class of 2022

I was deferred ED II from CAS, and i just checked my portal to see this:
FAFSA Hold
Holds
Summer 2018
Reason
Non FA Eligible Form of Study
Effective Date
5/15/2018
Contact

Instructions
Your program of study for this term does not qualify you for federal financial aid. Please visit the Office of Financial Aid website to see what other financial aid options may be available.

What does this mean?? bc i need financial aid, my parents only make about 50k-60k a year which isn’t even enough to cover the tuition costs

^^ I did a summer program last summer and they gave me the same albert username and account for my application for college so idk if that has to do with that??

h

@dreamingnyu I had a similar problem with a different school. The hold should go away a few days after decisions come out.

@dreamingnyu sounds like they are making sure they don’t release funds for the summer program since that wouldn’t be the right place to use federal financial aid ?

I think this just has to do with your past summer program and making sure if you get aid they don’t apply it to the summer…maybe that’s “good news” ?

PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey Guys! I made an account so you guys could please calculate my chances. I feel I made a mistake by not doing the HEOP program but I tried my best in every other aspect!

GPA: 88.190
Unweighted: 90.420

Extracirriculous: Member of a student run business, First student affiliate of NYSUT, Youngest memeber of NYSUT Womens board, VP of Interact and Debate, NHS Member and alumni of NYUs Ubran journalism program

I am currently taking three courses (One full year two half years) from Syracuse instead of AP and an additional one half year courses last year. My grades are goo in those college courses and the only AP course my school offers in AP English which I took last year and got above 90s in te class but low on the AP exam. I am horrible in standardized test scores and I discuss that in my essays and how it affected my average. I am a hard worker though and a good students when it comes to earning grades in hard classes.

WHY NYU? :For this essay I wrote about the first time I heard and fell in love with NYU. About how in Middle school I was in a musical progam and saw that purple flag and beautiful building and how I was hooked ever since. I talked about how I worked indepdently and fiercely to create opportunities for myself surrounding that school and I ended with what NYU and NYC really mean to me as a person and as a dreamer.

Any thing else I should give out? I am super worried…oh I am also low income and African American. My mom is from the Carribean and moved here at a young age, raising us in a single parent household.

Oh and I do sports as well…darn I am so nervous. I have had the worst of luck with the other main universities…Rejections from NU Northeaster, BU and Syracuse. I got into Emerson, The New School and Siena ><

@yugiohrocks777 I would simply wait for the results and not stress too much. Different schools are looking for different kinds of students. The fact that you were rejected from NUE or BU doesn’t mean you wouldn’t have a chance at NYU and vice versa. Also, I don’t think students here can give you a real response. However, an admissions office can and will in a couple of days. Relax. Best of luck to you!

Also, does anyone know whether or not the decisions are released on Tuesday? I saw multiple people on Instagram doing the countdown or something like that. The NYU admissions has the guy taking over until Tuesday which is also a bit odd? Don’t mean to overwhelm you. I just thought I might have missed something.

@oedemuasel I was thinking maybe Wednesday because of Holy Thursday and Good Friday (the sooner the better obviously)

@theoglivy Wednesday is the Ivy day, so it’s not likely they’ll also choose it. Monday is a bit too early. I guess Tuesday kinda makes sense then.

@oedemuasel that would be amazing

For ED1 & 2 when did they email y’all saying that decisions were coming? Did you get it a day / a couple days before or did you just get the email saying that decisions were available with no warning?

Do you know which instagram accounts were counting down?

Can u guys go into nyu classes tab and see mail address they made??

@starry89 some students in the comment section of NYU main account

@asdfg12345xx edited my comment. The email you see is your ID @nyu.edu, right? If so, it is not significant

My college counselor who speaks to our rep at nyu a lot said they’re aiming for Wednesday release but giving themselves some buffer time for any last minute things.

Has anybody received a likely letter from NYU?

I received an email like this:

Our admission committee is finalizing the review of your application for admission. This communication is simply to determine if you have already committed to attend another college or university through a binding Early Decision program.

Please click below if you need to withdraw your application to NYU:

YES - I do want to withdraw my application from NYU. I have committed to attend another institution under a binding agreement or I am no longer interested in NYU. I understand that by withdrawing my application I will NOT receive an admissions decision from NYU on April 1.

You do not need to respond to this email and you do not need to reiterate your interest in NYU.

Is this regarded as a likely letter?

Or did everybody who applied receive this?

@jdyounglegend I believe we all received that email a few weeks ago…
