Is it true that NYUs nursing school for undergrad is small ? And how competitive is it ? Thank you in advance
I have been doing crazy research to find more information about Rory Meyers. I’ll be doing early decision 1 to Rory Meyers as NYU has always been my dream school and the nursing curriculum is amazing. I got the opportunity to visit the Rory Meyers open house last week and they didn’t provide that much information. In fact there is just not a lot of released statistics for Rory Meyers. What I do know is that if you apply Rory Meyers, your application is reviewed by the “SSWN admissions team” (Steinhardt, Social Work, and Nursing). I have heard a lot that these schools have a higher acceptance rate (not exactly sure how much higher though) than the other NYU colleges. However, Rory Meyers incoming freshman from previous years has only beed ~60 students, so I assume that the competition varies due to how many students apply each year.
Lowest Acceptance to Highest Acceptance… Stern, Tisch, CAS, Tandon, Steinhardt, Rory Meyers, and Social Work.
Good thing NYU is known to be one of the most holistic approach to your college admission!
I am not exactly sure if I am correct, but this is what I know from my research and talking to alumni. Someone please add onto this if you know more information! Good luck to everyone applying!
I also went to the Rory Meyers open house last week! And yeah they didn’t really provide that much information. Regardless, idk if I’ll be applying ED2 or RD. Although NYU is also my dream school, the tuition is quite expensive lol which is why I’m on the limb of whether or not applying ED2. I hope to be eligible for the HEOP/CSTEP program as I am a nys resident. (My friend got in last year through the CSTEP program with a $40k scholarship from Meyers in the RD pool) Good luck @YooImTim !
Awesome! I actually meet the financial requirements for the HEOP/CSTEP, but im not a New York resident :(. My application is ready to submit but im hesitant because I might want to do Early Decision 2 instead of ED1. I would like them to see my senior year grades, but I do not know how much this would make a difference!
Do you think Rory Meyers is actually less competitive because of the cost for simply a nursing degree?? Would love to hear from you and others!
Hmmm I think it is a little less competitive but at the same time there is a small amount of seats available in their nursing program. As for the senior year grades I guess they would help you boost your application a bit but not too much.
Do you think I can still be considered for CTEP? I fall lower than the income brackets provided to be eligibly, but I am not a New York resident.
I don’t think you will but maybe you never know, here’s the link of the cstep program on the nys website- http://www.highered.nysed.gov/kiap/colldev/CollegiateScienceandTechnologyEntryProgram.htm
Did your friend fit the financial guidelines exactly for CSTEP?
@hopeandlove1004 Yes she did! Right on the dot
do you know if they consider things such as being from a single parent, paying for catholic school, loans, etc.?
@hopeandlove1004 I do believe they look at your parents income which is why they ask for the css profile and not just the fafsa. Catholic school I don’t think so and I’m not entirely sure and loans no because my friend still had to take out some loans to pay for her dorm since she chose to dorm.
I actually meant student loans that parents still have to pay off/currently paying off!
@hopeandlove1004 Ohhh well, in that case, I’m not too familiar with that (I’m a first gen student) but I did find this article that may help you https://www.collegecovered.com/paying-for-college/fafsa/your-fafsa-questions-parental-student-loan-debt/
thank you so much!!
