I'm an admitted student and I submitted my deposit. Originally, I was offered a 1k Steinhardt Scholarship and a looot of loans. I got an email notifying me of a revision today and that scholarship was changed to about 44k and my loans significantly decreased.

My most important question is is this final? Is it possible that they will revise my FA again before I actually attend and am billed? How long is it before they can no longer make any changes? I'm a little scared that they will could take it back or something.

And I also wanted to know if anyone knows what this is awarded based on? Merit, need, sports? Just out of curiosity.

Lastly, if I received this much I'm assuming it's because I was a decent applicant, but I haven't heard anything about the Honors or Scholars program? I know a lot of people have been asking about this but if anyone knows anything about this please let me know!

I got a letter today saying I was admitted into the Steinhardt Honors program, but I haven’t had a change in my financial aid. I haven’t submitted my deposit yet, but I do plan to enroll. I’m hoping that this means that my financial aid will increase as well, but I have no idea. And I would imagine that they will not take away your aid unless something drastic happens in your last semester.

A 1k jump to 44k is a HUGE difference. I have received nothing in financial aid or grants or work study etc but was offered a place in the Presidential Honor Scholars Program. Did anything in your FAFSA change, did you appeal or contact the FA office, or was it completely out of the blue, all you did was enter a deposit and your financial aid jumped to almost 50k…?

@mirandac796 ahh okay thank you, and congrats! Hopefully I get something soon too D: and I hope yours increases as well!

@alisonx I didn’t appeal or change my fafsa or anything. One thing I did was contact the office to see if I could defer my housing deposit but I don’t see why that would cause a huge leap like that lol. Congrats to you too!!

I hope both your FA increases because you deserve it!

Did you guys receive an email for the honors program or was it an actual letter?

I got an actual letter in the mail yesterday, dated March 28th.

Damm I guess I didn’t get in then

@Ghost95 You can always apply during your freshman year, all you need is a good recommendation from a professor, a GPA above 3.65, and community service, and it’s pretty much guaranteed.

Did you fill out the CSS profile and the FAFSA form both? Or did you just fill the FAFSA form? congratulations on your scholarship rise though
