NYU Shanghai Class of 2018

Do you know if they give preference to kids who put shanghai as this first choice?

Nope - I wish I did. It would make sense, especially since it’s early decision. But I’m not sure.

It was Christina who interviewed me  I think it went really well. There were a few questions that took some intense quick thought, but pretty standard-biggest challanges, where I stood on a global perspectives, etc. My interviewer seemed pretty pleased with my responses, so I think it went okay. She essentially said that they were looking for open minded students who would be willing to take on the adventure of a cross cultural college experience. I chose NYU Shanghai as my first choice. Were you interviewed? How did it go?

Christina interviewed me, too, and it went about the same.

Hey are you still on her Skype contact list, or did she delete you? She has deleted some people.

Hey there I was also interviewed by Chanel Lui , it went good so do you guys have any idea that when’s the decision ?

Yeah, I was interviewed by her too. BTW it’s Liu*.
Anyway, the decisions will be out around the 13th of this month for ED1 applicants.

I’m a current NYUSH Freshman from the inaugural class and just wanted to answer a couple of questions for you guys.
Firstly, the candidate weekends applied to ED and RD. I was Regular Decision and still went to Shanghai all expenses covered the first weekend of April. Granted, there was no class before us, so this year will be a little different because we will be here to greet you all.
Good luck to you all, and I will likely see you in the Spring.

Hi, thanks for coming on here! Is there anything you could tell us about your experience applying - your interview, etc.? Also, where are you from?

And how is it there? If Chinese was not your first language, how much have you learned? How much did you know coming in? And what do you think of Shanghai?

Hope to see you in the Spring, too!

She deleted me, but I highly doubt that means anything. It only makes sense- I mean, why else should she keep people on her contact list? The interview was complete and it’s not like we are to Skype again, so it’s not necessary to remain contacts. :)

Marinozai,
Coming to Shanghai I knew how to say hello and tell someone it was nice to meet them. Minimal Chinese, in other words. I have taken Elementary Chinese 1, the first level of the Chinese program in the Global Network and can now write over 400 characters and can get by in Shanghai by myself. Still nowhere near close to fluency, but enough to survive here. Shanghai is a global city though and many people speak English (in some places more than others). However, I am very close to one of my Chinese roommates and she helped me a lot in the beginning of the year seeing as I couldn’t even get lunch on my own.

It’s easier to talk via e-mail for me. So if you have other questions feel free to email me at mpf293@nyu.edu

Hey! No one has been posting for a while. Did anyone here get in? I’d love to meet you guys because I applied ED II and got accepted! I’m still deeply shocked & happy  It was the best Valentine I could ever get.

Hey @ola1szeptem , I got accepted too! Where are you from?

@ola1szeptem @MoonRiver95 Congratulations! Have you guys joined the Class of 2018 NYUSH facebook group? If you haven’t already then you should. We’re all still getting to know each other and it’s always fun to have new people join in.
Anyway, we’ll see you soon! :)

Congratulations to you too! I’m from Europe. Anuragr, I’m already in the group and the best thing is that I read this thread before but now I recognize your name from the group :D

Hi guys! I’m a current NYU Shanghai freshman. I’m also a student ambassador, and I can tell you a little about our candidate and admitted student weekends. Yes, we bring students not only to our campus here in Shanghai, but in NYC. They don’t reimburse you - they pay for you outright. You don’t have to spend a penny. I’m not sure if they’re going to be doing admitted students weekend like they did for me last year, but I do know that they will be having more candidate weekends. Congrats on the acceptances, and feel free to ask any questions.

My friends got notified today. I don’t understand why I didn’t get a decision

Hello I just got notified of my admission to NYUSH!! Congratulations @ola1szeptem @MoonRiver95!! Btw could someone share me a link to the class of 2018 page please?

I got in…seems that acceptance rate was 1%? lol

I also got in! Where is the candidate weekend that you guys were invited to?

Have they already send all the decisions for Regular? :(
