NYU Spring Transfer 2016

@bw68apply Do you mind if I ask you why you think transfers are not as important as first- year applicants? i’m just very curious because I also kinda think in the same way as you but I can’t think of any other reasons beside tuition.

Here is my personal opinion:
1.NYU is a top national ranked university; ranking is important. Retention rate (the proportion of first year student to return for second year), according to US NEWS, is one of the imperative factors that effects a university’s ranking. NYU will try their best to raise the retention rate instead of happily opening the spots for transfers. Therefore, they need to focus on first-year students and make sure that they are well-qualified and really into NYU. Transfers have not that much of a short-term positive effect for them.
2. Transfers applicant are not in NYU at first place because either (1) they were rejected before, because they were not well qualified, or (2) NYU was not their first choice. Either way, transfers will not be NYU’s top priority.
Please feel free to tell me what’s your opinion.

Important or not, they shouldn’t handle things like that. It’s a big University. They should know better. They even emphasize on diversity. We should be respected.

I don’t understand, if decisions are released in January, how are we going to handle the withdrawal process for our current university?

Wait, has anyone heard back today?

I spoke with someone in admissions a couple days ago that said they had started started looking at my application but the process had not finished yet. I applied for Cas

@oath2nyc would your friend mind telling us what happened after she/he noticed the change in FA page?

Hmm… Did they give a ETA or anything like that?

@hyjuki1203 from what I know…nothing happened after her receiving the change. She’s still waiting on an acceptance or rejection.

Anyone think CAS is going to find out today?

I think it would be tomorrow if anything. Maybe tomorrow or Thursday. But it seems as if they come in waves, rather than all at once. So some CAS will probably keep finding out after people start to post that they were accepted.

I just called the admissions office because I have to respond to another school in by the 9th and I asked them about the status of my application and they said they would be sending out responses to 90% of their transfers by the middle of next week. She put a note on my app saying I’m in a time crunch so hopefully I’ll find out by the end of this week, but she said most transfer applicants will hear back Dec 11, at the latest.

I hope they stick with that timeframe. Also, looks like Albert is down. I don’t know if that means anything lol.

I checked the application status page. It was not available. I guess the admins are maintaining the page for up coming login wave. The results probably coming out real soon.

I hope we’ll all hear good news

Me too

I hope we all hear good news too guys! I just got off the phone with an admissions assistant as well and was told similar to what @rachel2014 was told that most people will find out this week and shouldn’t be later than next. I was told that my application file itself is completed so I know my fate has already been sealed. Fingers crossed!!

Best of luck guys! You all are really amazing people and all deserve to get in! I hope they accept us all because we are all awesome :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, do you guys know what times they usually release decisions?

I heard 10:30 am to 1:30 pm but it could be later. I knew someone who got an email at 3:50 pm from them.
