NYU Spring Transfer 2022

Is anyone here applying as a Junior? I’m super nervous they’re not going to take me because of my class year

i don’t think it matters too much because they’ll only transfer over a max of 64 units from your old school so you’ll probably have to do about 2 years at NYU anyway

i think you can always withdraw after paying the deposit but you won’t get the money back

I am!

Yes! Ann Arbor of course is not as big as NYC by any means, but it is super close to detroit which has been growing over the past couple of years and is super fun. Ann arbor itself is also great but its a smaller town. If you want a traditional college experience I would say go to UM, but if you don’t really care or want that then NYU or any NYC schools. I am transferring as a junior and have tried out traditional college towns and campuses and just found that it wasn’t for me as there was not much to do. But, if you have not visited UM yet I would suggest to do so because it is vastly different from NYC!

Have any CAS Applicants heard anything? Given the rate at which they’re releasing (or not releasing) decisions it feels like they won’t take anyone this year, but fingers crossed.

I’m sure they will. I’m hoping they’re just slow this year.

you should make a pros and cons list. and weigh it out. since you are transferring, I’ve been in college so I already know what you like and don’t like. also go to a that will provide resources.

Is it a possibility that they won’t accept any CAS transfers and haven’t announced it yet???

Carnegie Mellon did that, but they announced it in late October

they have accepted some

Don’t let that discourage you! It could be based off of admission counselors & they may not have reviewed all applications yet

yeah but i’m not sure if it’s an indicator if we got in or not or if it’s just there for everyone. for me it says “Award access not available.” under 2022 so AHHH fingers crossed!

im trying hahahah. im just hoping since they’re going against previous years and are releasing on mondays, that december isn’t going to be mostly wl and rejections like previous years.

has anyone here applied to steinhardt? i applied to the music tech major - i’m not sure if my decision will take longer to come out since i had to submit a portfolio along with my application. has anyone heard anything about steinhardt admissions?

omg is that what usually happens? december is wl and rejections? bro that sucksss i hope that you’re right and that they’re doing things differently this year T^T

based on what i’ve seen, but that’s typically for CAS bc they normally release most of their acceptances in november. but the mid december seems to be mostly just rejections and wl. there’s still hope!

Congrats! I think it ultimately comes down to what you want from college. U Mich seems a safer choice. It got good academics, reputation, and you would have no trouble finding internships and jobs with the school name. Fordham seems a risky choice with high potential gains. At Fordham, you would be competing against folks from Columbia and nyu for internships and jobs, which means you would have to work your ass off to get them. But if you can do that, I think you would be greatly benefited from the opportunities NYC and Fordham offer. I’m also from a big city. I’m from Hong Kong. I just feel that the city vide fits me well. I’m more motivated in that environment, and I’m willing to work my ass off, so I’m inclined toward Fordham if I didn’t get into nyu. So the question really is would you rather take a safe path or a risky path.

I think that’s because CMU only accept a dozens of transfer students every year.

Yes! But i applied this year and received an email that my college wasn’t accepting transfers in the end. I think NYU CAS would have done that by now if that were the case
