omg ur a saint thank u for calling
That we know of, barely any
still waiting for nursing!
It seems that there may not be any new news today, that is, waiting for Wednesday?
I’m waiting for nursing
I’m still waiting on CAS bio
Hey Guys, I just called them and I have some new info. Below is what she told me and my very scientific interpretation of it
The person I talked to said that the majority of all transfer decisions won’t be released until AFTER the end of next week, so we will probably all hear back from Friday December 17th onward . I assume this is the case because they are focusing currently on first year early decision applications, and aren’t going to be looking too much at transfers until they are done with that. She also said that decisions are released the same day that they are made, and that applications are generally not reviewed in groups of particular majors, rather in arbitrary groups. I assume they are reviewed in groups by the specific school, but she did not clarify this. The people who have heard back were probably reviewed after certain admission committees completed a group of first years for the day and had extra time to look at some transfers. I assume this is the reason we have only heard acceptances so far, as they likely haven’t made any rejection decisions since they want to look through all of the transfer applicants before officially deciding that.
So in summary(this is my analysis):
-most of us won’t get a decision this week, but they will start trickling out late next week and the week of the 20th.
-applications are considered in arbitrary groups, not by major(though they may be and are likely grouped by school. Ie: Nursing, Tandon, etc)
-most likely no-one has been officially rejected yet, since they want to look at more transfer applications to decide this, and they’re primarily looking at first years now.
-if you have heard back or hear back this week its probably because a committee finished the freshman applications they had for the day, and in looking over a few(randomly selected) transfer applicants, you were so awesome they didn’t need to wait to compare you with the rest of us plebs. And if you haven’t heard back that doesn’t mean your application is necessarily weak, it just means that they most likely haven’t looked at it yet(due to focusing on freshman) or that they want to look at more transfers before making a final accept/reject decision.
I hope my analysis helps lol, basically my takeaway was that no-one has been rejected yet! And that not hearing back is not a bad sign at the moment. Also most of this was just my analysis of the call, so it’s possible I’m wrong. You can also call them yourself if you want, they’re super nice!
thanks so much!! it’s strange someone else was told that we’d all hear by the end of next week
it would be quite ridiculous that they start sending out decisions on the 20th, since classes would start in just a month, and a lot of people are moving overseas for that. I don’t think that will be the case tbh. those of us who need a visa would not be able to attend in-person classes for the beginning of term, and I would find it unacceptable that with all we have to pay we can’t properly begin our studies because of their fault
yeah i think they’ll still be releasing this week and next but most may hear back later in the month
It’s possible the person I talked to misspoke and meant to say “end of next week” instead of “after the end of next week”. I don’t know, I just wrote exactly what she said because I wanted to document my call for the forum.
thanks so much for that <3 i’m just honestly very worried about my visa. i’m waiting to hear from NYU before I make any decisions, and I can’t afford to get rejected on the 20th of december!! UMich starts jan 5 and it’s one of my options, and to process my student visa i need to know exactly what uni i’ll be attending
I absolutely understand your feeling. The transfer procedures of my current uni is really complicated and the semester just ends on 12.17. I’m not even sure if the office is open in winter holidays.
exactly. i understand and respect the exclusivity of making us sweat in our seats to get our decision haha, but it gets to a point where timing is just too important
That is really late for them to send decisions, hopefully we can get them sooner
facing the same issue you are worrying about, wish all the best for us!
nope
me too. In fact, i will finshed all my final exams on 12.13.
I think it can explain why the number of people admitted by the CAS is much less than Tandon.(lots of students will prefer to choose the CAS in the EA)
So they do not have enouch time to check the transfer.
Is it because there are so many freshman applicants this year? Why is the release date delayed this year?
